I actually think this will damage them. As mentioned earlier on the thread, oddly more so than the Kabul thing (which is worse) is likely to.
It's the sort of thing that does cut through as it's relatable for a lot of the public that made sacrifices this time last year.

Interestingly on the Kabul thing the top story on the Mail online is about a chief civil servant in the foreign office who was also on leave at the time. I think they'll manage to pass this one off onto the civil service rather than the PM, Raab and co

No I feel fine about it. I broke the rules though so don't feel I can judge.
They've been taking the piss the whole pandemic. There was the whole Barnard Castle episode, the giving massive contracts to their mates at the expense of actually helping people and all sorts. If you haven't been angry the whole time I see no reason to be angry now. They'll get away with it. The Tories are untouchable until house prices crash.

I want rid of Westminster and the stench all around it. I think it is easy to see living in Scotland or Wales how shit the electoral system for Westminster is. The anger has nowhere in the regions of England to go to and result in a political force like it has in Scotland and I think could eventually in Wales as well. Welsh labour have been careful to avoid committing to union or independence.

It's not the Conservative & Unionist Party anymore; it's the "Get Brexit Done Party".
It should have been a decisive moment to anyone paying attention; when those polls started coming out; that showed that English voters; were happy to see NI removed from the Union; than to loose their precious Brexit; Because where NI went; Scotland would surely follow.
In my lifetime; I expect to see an ugly reunification of Ireland; & a probably even uglier, Scottish Independence; & all because some blond cunt decided he wanted to be world king; & some other cunt decided to hold a Referendum.

Don’t want to turn this into another Scottish politics thread. Was it you (apologies if not) recently criticising the SNP for lack of focus on independence? I think it’s plain to see that they don’t need to. Just carry on with the “day job” and leave the Tory’s do the independence leg-work for you. Working a treat if recent polls and discussions I’ve had are anything to go by.

I think it probably was me. But I disagree slightly with your assessment, I think they need to start getting more serious about it and reach out beyond the core who believe the fluffy nonsense, or don’t care anyway. Start getting honest about what it is going to mean economically but pitching it as “it’s got to be better than this fucking lot, or at least worth the risk.
Anyway, like you say, we have a thread and don’t want to stink up this one but happy to jump over there.

I've always said that independence has nothing to do with England or the English in that it's not about dislike of either, it's about having the people of Scotland decide for themselves their direction of travel, not having to follow where the overwhelming population south of the border choose to go.

I hope everyone retains a bit of anger for the genuinely disgusting policing bill. The difficulty with arsehole governments like this, as we saw with Trump, is that it's impossible to keep up with all the crimes and attacks on demcracy, and so much stuff gets let through as a result
