Just listening to Max Hastings on LBC totally shafting Johnson. We know it anyway but BJ a brilliant journalist, very funny but an awful human being who's let down everyone he's dealt with and will never change. And MH has just endorsed Starmer.

A Tory MP has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit after a late-night collision with a lamp post.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Bridgend MP Jamie Wallis is under investigation by police over a road accident last month in a quiet village.

Mr Wallis, who was elected in 2019, was arrested after police were called to the ‘single-vehicle collision’ just after 1.10am on Sunday, November 28. He was later released. Police said that there were no injuries.

and the guy that PM looks to for climate change advice has just been arrested,
A man, aged in his 70s, has been arrested on suspicion of encouragement to commit arson. He remains in police custody.

The arrest relates to a video posted online in which people were encouraged to burn down MPs’ offices.

He's long been a fruit loop, his paid for weather forecasting service - based on his own "unique theory which proved global warming as a con" continually promised "ice age winter" year after year, When it never happened he not once acknowledged the fact even after the whole country had a mild or normal winter. The forecasts in general were never wrong but "only a probability".

Seems to have gone completely over the edge of sanity now.

Broad church parties don't seem to work anymore but FPTP means that parties have to at least pretend to be so.

Another day another picture of a party at No10. This time 17 folk have wine and cheese in No10 garden whilst the country was in lock down and you weren't allowed to meet a friend on a garden bench in the park. I'm really loving the drip drip drip of photos by the Mirror/Guardian that is slowly destroying the Gov. There is a sense of karma about all of this, its my favourite Advent Calendar. No10 must be shitting themselves every time the papers for the next day drop, the atmosphere there must be hellish. It is a bit like death by a thousand cuts - very slow and painful. The best thing is that the Blonde Bumblecunt knows there are worse things that they could have photos about and must be shitting himself about what else is going to come out, might even be drunken dodgy parties in Italy hosted by his Russian mates? Thing is if folk have anything on him they will need to use it soon before it becomes worthless when he has gone so expect all those holding kompromat will be all in over next few weeks/months. He really is a dead man walking and it will be interesting to watch the slow but inexorable drift of his cabinet as they realise they are backing the wrong horse. I strongly believe the Blonde Bumblecunt deserves the worst possible outcome from this horrendous horror show, he is a duplicitous, lying, misogynistic, racist, cheating cnut.

I just hope getting rid of Boris doesn't open the door for someone worse (someone less prone to gaffes, more calculating) and that it doesn't function as drawing a line under general Tory flouting of rules/accountability until another particular issue rears its head and builds to a critical mass.

In a way it's a little bit distressing that these parties are what's doing for him, because there's an awful lot of other unsavoury shit going down with this government that's every bit as deserving of bringing people down.

The reasons the party want him gone are different to those of us who dislike seeing democracy eroded and corruption running rampant.

I'm afraid that doesn't generate much outrage for me. I'm assuming they all work/live in the same building so the additional infection risk is minimal. And it isn't a big deal for me that they're consuming cheese and wine instead of tea and sandwiches. Maybe I've got party fatigue.

To an extent breaking the rules in the first lockdown is the worst of the lot for me. There was a very genuine crisis, limited information and an enormous reliance on voluntary compliance. I followed the rules to the absolute letter in the first lockdown because of this and I'm sure I'm not alone. I doubt anyone caught covid because of having a glass of wine outside but it's the lack of a sense of duty that bugs me.

Related to what Paddington says, how would regular Joe Public have been treated if they'd done the same? There's already more than a whiff of 'rules for thee, not me' about this government and some are probably ok with that, but a lot of people aren't and I'm one of them.

Raab came out with this line of bullshit
“But I’m sure that in other offices around the country, for those people that had to work in the office, then that would have been allowed. It was very clear, it wasn’t against the regulations.”

I'd wager that of those few who worked in offices and weren't able to adhere to the work from home mandate, that vanishingly few were able to do what was captured in the picture.

If we're being asked to put our lives on hold then the powers that be should have to experience some of that too. Not least because they should have the experience of the common man in mind when making their decisions. It needn't be a primary driver, but it should be a factor they consider. Lack of empathy for what they're imposing is a chronic problem with the Tories. See in particular the members in their ranks who bitch about benefits being too high or vote against measures to improve the lot of those who require them while whinging about MP salaries being too low - they have zero idea of what life is for regular folk.

I get that and I'd be outraged if they had all come over from different offices for a piss-up. But i can't get bothered about something taking place outside that in terms of Covid risk was effectively taking place inside anyway.

I agree. I was always of the mind, if we all follow the rules then the govt will know if measures are actually working or not, and modify accordingly. It was a huge unknown. And non compliance simply distorted the effects of the measures.

What bothers me about that shot is just how cheap and nasty the patio, the fencing and so on looks. And only 11% of the workers there (which includes Carrie for some reason) are women, though perhaps the women had enough brains to stay away. Though yes, that they've yet again set up a one rule for us and one rule for others isn't even rising to the level of shambolic messaging
