Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

I really think Newcastle are investable - own ground and training facilities, big city with a strong regional identity, large catchment area, lowest off field cost base in the league I agree. If you're looking to buy into the league, that would be the easy/sensible option. Clearly not happening yet...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Newcastle latest doesn't sound good. Seeking new investment, not recruiting any new players until it's found As a Wasps fan, this reminds me very much of the 'keep calm and carry on, we've got time and options' speak that came before the collapse. Diamond was at Worcester when they went under, but ...

It's incredibly good and pretty thought provoking as a dad of young boys who will enter their teenage years having to navigate an information space far more complex (and potentially harmful) than the one I experienced in the 90s.

Chances of individual plane crashes are extremely low. They happen though and are usually nothing to do with foul play It's possible, but that's a low possibility of a low possibility. Chances of an air speed collision v 16 knots / 0 knots ship speeds aren't really comparable tbf. Massive ships hit...

Iirc crude oil doesn’t burn & fuel oil doesn’t burn normally unless it’s in an engine ? Wonder if it’s a damaged ship or its cargo that’s on fire & not the oil. Bad show anyways, hope there were no deaths , but seeing as those things take miles to stop or turn it’s clear there was a pretty ...

Why are you ignoring the fact that even the Ukrainian opposition parties don’t want an election at this time? And what are you basing the “zero chance of winning” on? Also, what’s your plan for allowing all the regions under Russian occupation a fair and free vote, not to mention all the soldiers o...

Re: Starmergeddon: They Came And Ate Us

Starmer has actually rather reminded me of Boris when it comes to Ukraine, saying lots of good things but not actually doing anything. Maybe he'll make a start soon. But so far it's money will be spent, on our military and supplying Ukraine, than actually doing it. Rome wasn't built in a day, which...

Starmer is far from perfect, but after what we saw in the US yesterday, it was nice to see our leader embracing Zelesnky so warmly and lending full-throated support for Ukraine. I agree, you can quite easily imagine Boris/Truss etc just dumping him after yesterday Starmer has actually rather remind...

Too late now. A modest increase in defence spending particularly around industry in 2014 followed by a more substantial boost in 2022 may have given us the chance to run a different course. Odd thing is, that these guys are such pricks, it's hard to tell whether the intention was always to stage an ambush in this setting (probable), or whether it was spontaneous (less likely, but more than possible).

New US Abrams variants are all built on 1980s hulls iirc, so it's not that unusual.
