Re: Starmergeddon: They Came And Ate Us

If there is need for litter pickers then train them and pay them the going rate, which is probably minimum wage, so they will need UC top ups too. This is absolutely nuts to me. Why should benefits pay more than the minimum wage? Ah, well here's the nub of the thing. Minimum wage, even with the rec...

Re: Saudi/Qatar et al bidding for RWC

The last time the RWC was held in England the only two rugby grounds used were Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium. On that basis Scotland could host it - three large (50k+) stadiums in Glasgow, Murrayfield (67k) plus two more 20k+ in Edinburgh, Aberdeen 20k, Dundee 15k, Kilmarnock, 15k, We could...

By Europe we really mean France and England, and anyway, if it was actually a World Cup it's not an odd thing Europe would have to wait. Re: Starmergeddon: They Came And Ate Us

I can imagine Starmer being better at the bureaucratic dogfighting than the Tory spivs we had to put up with for 14 years. He does appear to have taken that tough step 1 that eluded the Conservative Party - ‘trying’. Telling the Sentencing Council that they’d legislate was the killer, a Tory Lord C...

There was an article in the Times about it this week, which featured some World Rugby fuckwit justifying it on the basis that they sell loads of All Blacks shirts in Malaysia and Thailand, and they're in Asia as well so it's bound to be hugely popular and attended by loads of locals. Re: Saudi/Qatar et al bidding for RWC

The sport sold out years ago, we can and should hate this but it has an air of inevitability to it and an air of ‘what on earth did we expect’. Qatar in the end ran a really quite impressive football world cup and the timezone isn’t a disaster. Rugby will struggle far more than football without a fa...

I believe the RFU insurance policy covers any and all rugby activity at any affiliated club, someone like SaintK who is heavily involved in running a club is probably best placed to say how the RFU recoups some of this. There is a certain proprietary tone some Scots seem to take on as soon as they find out a player is Scotland qualified. Fun game to watch as a neutral with a loud crowd. No one’s fault but if Northampton had had a kicker/10 they’d have won. Pollock really is exceptional, an arrogant see you whatever but he can back it up. Ford squaring up to people was good fun. Well worth watching on catch up
