Re: Saffers
My concern is how the ANC will react if they are voted out of power, knowing what's at stake. We all saw how easy it is to rile people up when they tried to put Zuma in prison, and what's happening and been happening in Tswane and Joburg since the DA took over. Things won't just magically come righ...

Re: 2024 Springbokke
We had a solid team for the last 6 years and some of the players are getting on a bit. It seems as though Rassie will focus more on building for the future now. I won't be surprised if we see a few bad results with more youngsters getting capped.

I'm not as old as some of the dinosaurs on here, but perhaps one off you can tell me why since I turned 40 my joints started to creek and pop like they need grease or something.

They're both pretty horrible condiments if you ask me. I'll eat it and once in a while I might feel lus for a fishpaste toasty but there's probably a hundred other stuff I'd prefer before I get to fishpaste. But I'm not a huge fan of fish anyways. I doubt it's an ingels en boertjie thing though. We ...

The one thing I hate about fish paste is that once you pop that seal you better finish the whole bottle. I bet there are millions of South African homes with a half full bottle of vrot fishpaste in the fridge, growing hairy green-black nasty crap on it.

Re: Springbokke going forward
What's really exciting is that I don't think we have even seen the benefits from our 2019 win yet. To think of how many kids must have been inspired to start playing rugby then, and now again in 2023. In 5-10 years we'll see even more talent coming through. 2019 didn't have enough exposure. This on...

Re: Fun thread... let's rewrite the Law book
1. Make collapsing a maul legal 2. Players are only allowed to jackal if you have one foot planted on each side of the tackled player. They have to step over the prone player, bending down side-on, before playign the ball with their hands. It will encourage more phase play as the jackeler will lose...

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
Actually, I was pretty pissed off with the French for making the AB players stand there and wait for so long. And then expect them to parade up on a stage and shake people's hands to receive loser's medals. I bet all of them just wanted to get to the change rooms, take a warm shower and head to the ...

Take it back to the beginning. No scrums, no tackling, no rucks and you're not allowed to touch the ball with your hands. We can call it football.

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
I find that very odd, having watched several NZ rugby shows since the game and found the pundits' opinions overwhelmingly: 1. proud of the ABs making the Final and getting so close 2. praising of the Boks' ability to always find a way to win, and their great achievement in getting there the hard wa...

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
The referee apologised to the All Black captain for incorrectly penalising him at a ruck. The ABs should have had that penalty... instead, Pollard kicked a goal. Those three points weren't really the Boks right to score. I'm not complaining about that, these things happen and it's the way of the ga...

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
You lost the game because your players missed their kicks. It has nothing to do with the refs, you had opportunities and you failed to take them. That is a typical SA/ENG way to look at rugby. Kicks win games and that's that. There are more ways to win games than kicks, but not if the tech and the ...

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
This thing about "growing the game" is utter nonsense. It's a niche sport, ether you like it, or you don't. To grow the game, you need to simplify it in order to appeal to people who never followed it. So, you have to change it until it becomes unrecognizable to the traditional fanbase. Gr...

Re: As the dust settles - RWC debrief
It's simple, if you go into contact with an upright posture and there's head contact, you're going to get carded regardless of what your intent is. We need defensive players to bend 90 at the waist when going into contact. If you then hit someone's head, there's mitigation. It needs to be policed an...

Besides the actual rugby and the fact that my team won, it's been one of if not the kakest WC I've experienced. The opening ceremony: a complete mess and Trevor's little victory dance at the end was more entertaining to watch. The singing of the anthems: Miserably inadequate for an event of such imp...
