Re: Ireland v France match thread
For the Irish, 1, or maybe 2, simple questions. The answers are binary. YES or NO. Question 1 Did Lowe (or Penaud in the other link) leave the ground SOLELY to avoid a tackle? YES or NO only. I've even made it easier for you by adding SOLELY. Optional question 2 Only for anyone who answers NO to 1....

Re: Ireland v France match thread
Nigel Owens can't decide if the tackle was legal but doesn't even question Lowe's dive.

Bed time for me. I'll check again in the morning but he never wraps for me.
Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't see a wrap

Re: Ireland v France match thread
My original statement about the pen try and YC was tongue in cheek (I didn't realise other people were seriously calling for it). I stand by the statement that it is not a legal tackle by the letter of the law and therefore technically a YC and PT but they are never given (like a crooked feed these ...

Re: Ireland v France match thread
The issue is you see every dive for the line as a jump to avoid a tackle whereas world rugby specifically differentiates between them, which for some reason you can't accept

Re: Ireland v France match thread
FFS, READ the friggin' link before posting If a player is deemed to have left the ground to avoid a tackle ; or to jump, or hurdle a potential tackler, then this is dangerous play and should be sanctioned accordingly. f**king end of. He is simply not jumping over the tackler no matter how many time...

Re: Ireland v France match thread
https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/clarification/2022/3/ So the more likely position is pen against Lowe for jumping into the tackle. Except that's not what the clarification says at all. Even more so than May, Lowe was clearly diving for the line and not jumping over Penaud . Penaud was well wi...

Re: Ireland v France match thread
Also, as a french fan you would want the try awarded as otherwise it is probably a PT and a YC. https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/clarification/2022/3/ So the more likely position is pen against Lowe for jumping into the tackle. But he didn't jump into the tackle, he was running away from the t...

Re: Ireland v France match thread
Is it possible to believe that it was a great game and the referee made a couple of mistakes or does that call for impossible mental gymnastics? LOL, no. To repeat - Lowe's was not a try. It was not Barnes' fault that for whatever reason, he was not shown the correct footage (ironic given how the F...

Re: Ireland v France match thread
Just getting around to reading this thread now and I'm a bit embarrassed. I didn't realize it was such a bad game totally ruined by Barnes. I had actually thought it was quite good. Silly me

Re: U20’s
Scotland quick lineout? You've lost me. Years ago, Ireland booted it into the upper stand took a quick lineout while Ireland ambled up laughing at their ignorance of the laws and the ref let the try stand Same as against Wales. Or have you got the wrong opposition? It was wakes wasn't it. I haven't...

Re: U20’s
Entertaining game and great result but I'm not comfortable with these wins when dodgy ref calls are a factor..... Unless we're playing Wales of course Which dodgy ref call do you think made the difference? There was lots of marginal stuff but it balanced out. I actually thought he was pretty even b...

Don't know if l can stay awake for the main event. Got up at 3.30 for the second half, now of to play golf, which means boozy afternoon, the pub at 18.00 and then the match starts at 20.45 here. A long day ahead I'm calling no chance you see the game I'm determined though as the France game was the...
