Re: Career Changes

Working in tertiary education, a couple of areas that I've really seen open up for jobs in recent times are roles for trained Data Scientists and people who can work on Climate Policy. I see Cybersecurity has already been mentioned, and that's probably the area where salaries go up quickest in ...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Fuck NZC for selecting Kuggeleijn. Won't be following the game and I hope England win.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Lucky we have Trent Boult chomping at the bit ready to go..... :???:

Those bastards have selected Scott Kuggeleijn instead too. Not only has only only taken 8 first class wickets in the past two seasons, but he doesn't know the meaning of 'no'. NZC can fuck off if they think I'm ...

Bugger - they organised that badly, didn't they. Now we get an under-prepared greentop

Re: The Official Aotearoa Politics Thread

Holy shit! Just had the biggest earthquake here I've ever felt in NZ! Fuck me, that was a rocker!

Felt that in Wellington, but nothing on Geonet yet (which is odd). Decent sized in Wellington, but not horrific. Went on for a bit, building up.

EDIT: Now on Geonet 6.0 epicentre 60km NW of ...

Re: F**K off Gabrielle

Thought this was a 1990s British music talent call-out thread.

But hope everyone's okay. Seems to have calmed down significantly in Wellington for now, but metservice is saying we're in for another spin tomorrow morning, but looking calmer further North at least.

Re: The Official Aotearoa Politics Thread

Interesting analysis from Bryce Edwards today:

Political Roundup: Luxon’s leadership under threat

The National Party will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the leadership musical chairs of 2020 when they rolled Simon Bridges as leader, replaced him with Todd Muller, only for Muller to step down ...

Good luck to all our Northerners for the next few days. MetService has tomorrow afternoon being atrocious (100mm of rain across 6 hours). Stay safe!

I was reading through this line up and thinking how good it was, and it took me too long to realise I was actually there!

Oh to be 20ish again!

I was at that Reading Festival too.

What a year that was.

I ...

I'm more surprised that Boag was in contact with Walker more than the fact that he released it without thinking.

That's what I'm surprised about as much as anything. And the astronomical lack of judgement from Boag is a bit of a surprise.

The Privacy Commissioner was on RNZ this morning ...

The Mission theme is a stunning piece of music. I was only discussing the Cinema Paradiso soundtrack with my wife yesterday. So many iconic soundtracks.

Re: The 'alternative' music thread

Great tune, though Bressa Creeting Cake were my favourite 90s Flying Nun band.

Love that band. Still listen to their album quite a bit.

Palm Singing should have been a massive hit. Such a great funky baseline, xylophone use, feel good summer vibes.

Saw them on a brief reunion tour probably ...

Good thread.

Bit of Flying Nun:

Recently, from an alternative standpoint, I've been listening to a lot of later Talk Talk and some Black Flag.

The young Keith Holyoake in that PMs grid looks like a combination of Jeremy Wells and Michael Woodhouse.
