Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Reffell is getting on the right side of the ref then playing to the ref. Pretty ideal no.7 play.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
I thought Watson had a couple of very good games for Edinburgh recently, I'd have had him in over Darge this weekend. Not sure the point in bringing in Miller unless they've been told they're just there to train with squad. Agree back 3 were anonymous, not sure what the answer is here without dropp...

The French kick chase is going to be exploitable. Goof kicks by French backs are getting returned well because the kick chase is poor.

The lack on invention has also been un Toony like. We have one pattern and that's it. Dalziel hasn't come up with anything clever in the forwards other than catch and drive or off the top. It feels very stale.
England and Wales have shown some plan post world cup whereas in not what our is.

I guess it comes down to whether GT/SRU see him as HC at the next WC. If not he should go now.
We look relatively devoid of invention across the team outwith a few plays or Finn kick passing it.

And another thing seeing as I'm still fizzing. Co-captains just isn't a thing and doesn't allow a leader to emerge and I think it's no more than indecision from Townsend.
He isn't being seem in the best of lights but we miss Hoggs leadership.

Funny game to watch. Have to say, I don't watch Scottish rugby all that much, but I'm surprised to see so many names on the teamsheet that seem to have been there for years. Jones, Russell, Fagerson, Gilchrist, Turner - all playing some way below their levels of a few years back, and you wonder why...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Not calling for the coaches head or anything but some of this lies squarely on his shoulders.
6/2 bench then waits 70min before using them.
Horne starting which has failed. Steyn continues to be a defensive liability.
We continually give away silly penalties and aren't scoring 60-80 minutes

Can we stop fucking about with Horne and Steyn and get the back subs off now.
That came from Steyn being turned inside out in the defensive line. Pathetic.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Really pleased for George Horne getting a start today. I used to advocate for him massively but have been happy with Ben White lately. Great for Hornito to get his chance. Sad for Stafford that the 6-2 means he misses out. He is likely to be a future star centre, so I hope he gets a chance to show ...

Re: 6 Nations Round 4 - Italy v Scotland
Another penalty to "scotland" following successive rucks with "scots" falling on the wrongside. He's letting Italians fly off their feet to clear out and at one point after a counter ruck come from the side and pick it up. Hardly surprising one of the worst refs in international...

Re: 6 Nations Round 4 - Italy v Scotland
That try comes from a penalty to scotland where a "Scottish" player roles into the Italian players trying to clear out. The Scotttish player already had hands on the ball and survived the 1st Italian hitting the ruck Scrabbling around on his hands and knees also helped. For the second pla...

Defensive positioning poor there. If Kinghorn is wide then Horne/Steyn has to sweep better than that.

A bit helter-skelter skelter there but good control when it mattered.

Jesus christ. What was the ref doing letting that go after the 2nd knock down. Ngannou was clearly done and all the ref did was line him up.for AJ to belt him.
Ngannou played a stulid game in that 1st round by changing stance and won a stupid prize.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Thoughts on the team for Saturday? Only real debate is probably over the back row make up and maybe 12. I still prefer Rowe to Steyn on the wing but accept I am in the minority on that. . I'd go with Christie in for Ritchie and think either Redpath or McDowell will be fine at 12. For all the chat ab...

Yes, would be disappointing if they could not get that from where they are now. Leinster and the Bulls still have to play each other, so there's a real opportunity to finish in the top-2 and secure a home SF (obviously without hitting a Munster-red brick wall in the quarters first, like last year)....

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Four wins and three bonus points will, I think, be enough for Edinburgh to get a top eight spot. That’d be 53 points, Away to Sharks, Home to Scarlets, Home to Zebre, away to Cardiff all very winnable. Other games are away to Stormers, home to Munster, away to Bennetton. Glasgow have five very winn...

Re: 6 Nations Round 3 - Scotland v England
Is Darcy a far better rugby player? He has entirely different attributes. He’s a Shane Williams type player where Duhan is a Lomu type. There aren’t many players in world rugby who could have scored Duhan’s second try on Saturday. I think Darcy’s positioning, tackling, catching, passing, reading of...

It's not always black-and-white - I'm dual national British Irish with an English father and Irish mother but would only ever want to represent England as it was where I was brought up.
