Probably bollocks then.
The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Well, I hope so, but if they've put in a bid that turns his head I wouldn't blame him, he knows as well as anyone how precarious a career it is.
And they now have a couple of guarenteed years in the Premiership.
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
Makes perfect sense if true, the rugby post also mentioned it. His career has been blighted by injuries and this is his chance for a big contract. Thursday pending, his stock may never be higher.
I think I read a post somewhere that suggested the story was true but over egged by an excitable player.

They were suggesting that this is part of that situation. So, none the wiser because they're either opportunistically doubling down on their previous bollocks or they really are in the know.
I think anyone who insinuates they know something but won't tell you what it is can generally be classed as a wrong 'un though, despite my own predilections for falling for it. On that basis I say they are full of shit. Incidentally, I listen to their podcasts so can say with some certainty at least one of them reads this forum if not posts, so if it's you, feel free to respond with your evidence.
Richard Cockerill today in The Offside Line on the Rory Sutherland rumours
“Rory is under contract until the end of next season and that’s it,” stated Cockeril. “He won’t be released from his contract. He’s an Edinburgh player until his contract runs out, and from an Edinburgh and Scotland point of view we’d like to keep him long-term. It is as simple as that really – there is no truth in that whatsoever.”

Never say never, but it adds credence to the assertion that the Thistle are full of shit.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 9:32 pm Richard Cockerill today in The Offside Line on the Rory Sutherland rumours

Just had a look and I don't think it will be that far off actually. Only one I'd massively disagree with is Watson.

The pillars don't look as bad as I expected. I think it will be a radically more fun experience than next door for playing and watching the games with a few thousand folk in there. Better atmosphere for those of us who will only be watching on TV as well.
The orange seating looks the business, I guess they will be the premium tickets.

Aye. I always enjoy the Lions but looking forward to it much more now. Only managed to see the final SA test last time out, being a civvy has its bonuses.
Damn, I knew there was bound to be a downside!
Very happy with the selection. My gut tells me that Hogg is the only one likely to start a Test match, but hopefully I’ll be proven wrong. I guess having representation on the panel really does work after all.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
Nah I think Watson and Harris will too. The rest have a chance now they're there.
Edit: Russell has a good chance too.

They will all get a chance. I wouldn't be surprised (would be sad) if a Scot/Scots start a test and it isn't Hogg. Back 3 will come down to who performs on tour IMO.

Really pleasantly surprised by the picks and 8 is beyond my expectations. There are a few slightly surprising picks including Aki (not a first choice for Ireland), Lawes (long term injured this year) and Conan (although I think he's been brilliant for Leinster this year, he isn't a worldy type player). Harris is probably the Scottish one that will be questioned, but I think he deserves it and he'll be a dirt tracker anyway. Altogether though, even though there are a few surprises I wouldn't say any are massively controversial.

Chris Harris has been the most polarising Scotland player I can remember for a long time with fans.
Fair play to him. Also what a recruitment tool for the SRU. We took a 25 year old Newcastle falcons 13 and turned him into a British and Irish Lion.

I honestly don't think Harris should be questioned. Not every player needs to picked because they are possible test starters. He will be key to bedding in the defensive system within the squad. Given the time restrictions that can't be under estimated.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 12:03 pm Really pleasantly surprised by the picks and 8 is beyond my expectations. £350 + my £50 stake which I always write off when I bet as I never bloody win
Well chuffed though.
Really pleased for the 8 lads who have made it

Took some stones to bet on Harris! I honestly didn’t believe it until the squad was announced.SomersetJock wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 12:18 pm£350 + my £50 stake which I always write off when I bet as I never bloody win

As soon as Gregor and Tandy got the jobs I was fairly confident. When North got injured I had very little doubts. The 7-1 odds were just irresistibleYr Alban wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 12:22 pmTook some stones to bet on Harris! To be clear I think he's a great pick, I just think the perception of him outside of Scotland is likely to be less favourable. It's the same as Conan, I've only seen him a few times this year so text an Irish mate for the Irish view - he thinks he's been brilliant all year and probably Leinster's POTY.Big D wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 12:13 pmI honestly don't think Harris should be questioned. Yeah I think it is hard for some, especially perhaps those with a more fleeting interest to be noisy when big names miss out.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 12:37 pmTo be clear I think he's a great pick, I just think the perception of him outside of Scotland is likely to be less favourable. Some quality back rowers have missed out.
A pack of: Marler, Any of the Scottish hookers/Kelleher, Sinckler, Gray, Ryan, Van der Flier, Navidi and Stander would be bloody handy.
