The Serious Fraud Office has said it is investigating steel tycoon Sanjeev Gupta's business empire - including links with Greensill Capital.
The SFO said in a statement said it was looking into "suspected fraud, fraudulent trading and money laundering in relation to the financing and conduct of the business of companies within the Gupta Family Group Alliance (GFG)".
It said the investigation included GFG's financing arrangements with Greensill Capital, the lender which collapsed earlier this year.
The announcement comes a day after former prime minister David Cameron faced intense scrutiny by MPs over his lobbying on behalf of Greensill over access to a Bank of England emergency business support scheme set up at the onset of the coronavirus crisis.
Mr Gupta's GFG Alliance controls Liberty Steel, whose 3,000 workers have been facing uncertainty since Greensill's demise.

How does that quote go; "Like being savaged by a death sheep"
Unfortunately it's more commonly known as the Serious Farce Office!
Though if they do find anything fraudulent you can understand why Cameron was keen to repeat regularly in yesterdays questioning that he was not a main board director!!!
Yeah, sounds like he's willing to throw them under the bus if necessary.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Looks like Priti took some time off from top level bullying to do some dodgy PPE lobbying herself.

The elections have happened, back to knifing Johnson to get Gove installed.
And Matthew Paris is a disgrace "It's time we stopped pandering to Travellers".

Hancock was very tetchy and defensive about the timings of the India travel ban and the government slow reactions on his interview round this morning. Unfortunately no one assked him about this piece of naked cronyism
Eddie baby was also a paid adviser to a second property developer (also a major Tory Party donor) whilst working in government. He also advised the Chinese investment fund when they purchased the Royal Mint building.
Nothing to see here, absolutely no conflicts of interest

Rather than fluff about a red wall or woke social justice warriors turning the good working class folk off labour a journalist has actually done some evidence based reporting. The people doing well under this Tory government own houses as the Tories have consciously been blowing up a bubble. Those people then vote Tory as the the Tories have really increased their wealth. Good reporting on real tangible things eh... It'll never catch on!
On that basis there are lots of Labour seats in the 60+ bracket that could turn blue, but only 3 Tory seats that should be red.I like neeps wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 7:42 am

Indeed, it's a good strategy until the bubble bursts or you've priced out young people from houses and kids and society really struggles in the longer term. There is an article here about the situation facing Travellers in Scotland, I'm sure it's no different to elsewhere in the UK, with particular reference to Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross and his statement about enforcement against Travellers being his "number 1 priority" if he were PM for a day,

The travelling community goes back a thousand years in Scotland
So the poisonous dwarf can be added to the growing list of MP's and Ministers lobbying for PPE contracts on behalf their friends and cronies
https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/brexi ... -7976410Priti Patel has been accused of a “flagrant breach” of the ministerial code by lobbying a fellow minister in an attempt to secure a healthcare firm access to a personal protective equipment (PPE) deal said to be worth £20 million.
Labour has urged cabinet secretary Simon Case to investigate the home secretary over efforts to sway the award of a contract after being approached by a Tory activist.
Patel attempted to apply pressure to Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove in May last year during efforts to secure the contract for Pharmaceuticals Direct Limited (PDL).
Her efforts failed after Matt Hancock said the masks were “not suitable for the NHS”, according to disclosure in a legal case.
But PDL was awarded a £102.7 million contract weeks later in July to provide a different type of mask, during which Samir Jassal was also the contact.
Jassal has stood as a Conservative candidate at two general elections and has met Boris Johnson and David Cameron.

The blonde slug doeas like a "photo op"
A nurse who cared for Boris Johnson when he was gravely ill with Covid-19 says she has handed in her resignation, such is her disillusionment with the “lack of respect” shown by the government for the NHS and healthcare workers.
Jenny McGee, who kept vigil by the prime minister’s bedside for two days when he was in intensive care, also revealed that his staff had later attempted to co-opt her into a “clap for the NHS” photo opportunity with him during what she thought would be a discreet thank you visit to Downing Street.
“We’re not getting the respect and now pay that we deserve. I’m just sick of it. So I’ve handed in my resignation,” said McGee, referring to the government’s proposed 1% pay rise for NHS staff, which unions have described as a “kick in the teeth”.

All that money the blonde slug blagged to decorate the flat for her upstairs and the fucking wallpaper keeps falling off
The spokesman refused to comment on a Daily Mail story saying that the £840 per roll wallpaper in the PM’s Downing Street flat (which partly explained the hefty refurbishment bill) keeps falling down.

What is apparently ultra important, is that a BBC Journo, lied to a coke head toff, to get an interview with his Sloane ranger sister.

I'd accuse Priti Patel for selling her soul to suckle at Murdoch's teet. But she never had one to sell in the first place. The panel was expecting to publish this coming Monday. However, on Tuesday members were told they could not do so until their report had been passed to the home secretary, Priti Patel, so she could review it and make changes if she thought necessary.
One of the main areas of inquiry for the panel was the conduct of Rupert Murdoch’s business empire, with two of those arrested after the murder having ties to the News of the World, the Sunday tabloid closed after the phone-hacking scandal.
Patel was a guest at Murdoch’s 2016 wedding in London to Jerry Hall. On Friday the Home Office said the home secretary would not discuss her relationship with Murdoch, or her attendance at his wedding, because it was a private matter.

Dare I mention the NOW's phone hacking that added to Millie Dowler's parents' acute distress and sidetracked a murder Investigation - and the complicit lack of outrage from those who are now so steamed up about the BBC?SaintK wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:00 amShe is an absolute fucking disgrace.
