why is he a twat for suggesting that?

Targeted rather than 'open for all' immigration is exactly what the UK needs...

He might not be struggling for bar staff if he hadn't told a bunch of people at the outset of the pandemic to go and work for Tesco rather than assuring them he'd put them on furlough. Any of those who might still be looking for a job or faced difficulty asd a result of his reticence will probably not want to work for him again and others will probably look at what he did and think 'no, thanks. Will try my luck elsewhere'.

Then, of course, his being a particularly outspoken brexit supporter suddenly wanting the opposite of what Brexit was intended to achieve as soon as it inconveniences him... Very rules for thee, not me.

He could of course see if offering a better remuneration package to potential employees from the UK might solve his apparent staffing problem (see also farmers bitching about not being able to find fruit pickiers now their source of borderline slave labour from Eastern Europe has been interrupted).

PS there is no "EU red tape" remember, there was none while we part of the EU... We chose negotiated these 'oven ready' trade terms.

What do you expect people to do? Go 'Oh the blatant lies we were told are proving to be the unmitigated bollocks we predicted and cost of basic necessities like food is going up, but that's fine'.

On the other thread, again, do you expect people to be happy that ministers appear to be using the public purse to enrich their cronies, relatives and donors? That one would die a death if the Tories stopped doing scummy things.

The parallels with the response of Thatcherites to Thatchers complete and utter destruction of South Wales and Brexitists utter destruction of the UK, by pretty much the same right wingers is startling.
Anyone piseed off is a whinger.
A moaner.
Boring.
Just not believing enough.
Businesses and communities would have gone under anyway.
Oh if only they worked harder!!!
In five years they will be sarcastically saying " its Brexit", like Brexit is monotously and boringly being blamed for everything, and it is just a cliche to blame or even mention it now.

The play book has been written and refined over many decades and dead bodies by these dreadful wankers.

You cannot win.
They don't have to be two steps ahead, just bigger more uncaring cunts than you.

Better news with nations not on the other side of the world, but WTF is the cheese obsession? Are all cheesemakers Tory donors or summat?
Brexit: UK announces trade deal with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein

The UK has signed a post-Brexit trade deal with Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein, the government has announced.

The agreement will be a major boost for trade between the four non-EU nations, which is already worth £21.6bn, UK minister Liz Truss said.

She claimed it would boost sectors such as digital, and cut tariffs on UK farm products, such as cheese and meat.

Britain is Norway's main trading partner outside the EU.

The UK government said reduced import tariffs on shrimps, prawns and haddock would cut costs for UK fish processing, helping to support jobs in Scotland, East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

Also seems to emphasize importing seafood rather than enabling our fishermen to catch it for themselves in Norwegian and Icelandic waters?

The reality
The UK and EU face a furious Brexit battle over sausages after Tory ministers started attacking a Brussels ban on bangers.

UK farmers are already banned from sending the meaty snack to the Continent under post-Brexit rules.

But now the clock is ticking on trade from Britain to Northern Ireland too - as it was only allowed under a six-month grace period.

That grace period expires at the end of June - after that, certain "chilled meat preparations" may be barred from going west across the Irish Sea.

If it's not resolved it's feared this could lead to supply gaps in Belfast supermarket. It includes chilled mince, chicken nuggets and chilled raw sausages, plus ungraded eggs and some unpasteurised milk.

As I understand it, the main issue is that British sausages are raw when sold, and the new rules in place don’t allow the export of raw prepared meats, such as mince and sausages, because of their short shelf life. There would be no problem if they were cooked before export (as almost all other countries sausages are), or were frozen.

Persuade British sausage makers to sell their sausages as a frozen product and they can then export them.

The EU says its patience is "wearing very thin" with the UK in talks aimed at avoiding a trade war over Northern Ireland border checks.

Exports of sausages and other chilled meats from Great Britain to Northern Ireland will effectively be banned at the end of the month.

The UK says it is ready to ignore the ban to prevent further disruption.

Top EU official Maros Sefcovic warned tariffs - taxes on imports - could be imposed if that happens.

Speaking after a meeting with the UK's Brexit minister Lord Frost, Mr Sefcovic said he was "positive we can find a solution, where there is a will there is a way".

But he added: "Our patience really is wearing very, very thin, and therefore we have to assess all options we have at our disposal."
'
This could include legal action, arbitration or retaliatory trade measures such as tariffs, he explained.

Well at least Westminster has been consistent, in that, in the century since partition.

And it's probably just as well; because when they have been interested, & intervened, they've almost always made thing worse.

Let's not forget all the polls during the endless negotiations, where Leave voters said they'd prefer to remove NI from the Union, rather than not get the marvellous Brexit they were promised by the Bumblecunt et al.

I'm pretty certain that the current Government would be more than happy to continue their regime of centralisation and authoritarianism by imposing an Emergency Powers Act and chucking troops back on the streets.
