A huge pity there is no Junior World champs this year as this looks a very good squad. The bolded players in my opinion are absolutely world class juniors.

Covid is giving our lower structures a huge blow. Wish they can at least give the WP & Boland (no 3rd wave) kids the OK to play sport.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 7:38 am A huge pity there is no Junior World champs this year as this looks a very good squad.

ALL WILL BE UNVEILED NEXT SATURDAY
A squad of 45 will be chosen next Saturday, 5 June, for the Lions series and the two warm-up matches against Georgia, although Erasmus explained that the group will effectively be a mix of Bok and South African A players. South Africa A, meaning the national second-string team, is due to play against the Lions in a tour game before the series starts.
Erasmus said the aim was to choose the best available team, overseas club commitments for some players notwithstanding, for the two matches against Georgia as the Boks go in search of a proper, meaningful dress rehearsal for the Lions series.
With the Boks having not played for more than a year and a half by then, getting the combinations that will face the Lions together so they can gel ahead of the series will be of critical importance.
Erasmus wasn’t able to confirm the venues but did say that both the test matches, Nienaber’s first as Bok coach and the first international matches South Africa will have played since winning the World Cup final in 2019, would be played on Friday nights so that there was no clash with Lions tour games.
TOUCH AND GO FOR INJURED TRIO
“We are selecting a 45-man squad as we will be going into a hard (bio) bubble in the buildup to the matches and the series,” said Erasmus.
“We will have the SA A side along with the Boks that will be playing the Lions and the Bok coaches will coach both teams.
After the SA A game, we may cut the squad a bit, maybe to the same size as the Lions squad. But I think we are looking okay. There are a few players who are touch and go for the series, like Lood de Jager, Warrick Gelant and RG Snyman, who are on rehabilitation programmes. They may or may not be ready.
“Most of the guys who played for us at the World Cup though aside from the three players who have subsequently retired will be in the mix, plus some new young guys who have impressed us.
“I think we are looking okay. We have a good mix of young guys who have done really well in the preparation series and in the local Rainbow Cup and some old dogs who have been doing really well overseas,” added the national director of rugby.

The Sharks had more players @ the camp.
OomSB botEveritt said that 12 of his players had gone to the Springbok training camp last week but not all will play against the Lions as some of the Sharks’ Boks are due to be rested according to the Springbok protocols.

How many players did the Stormers send to the camp?
Everett is a well known liar. He keeps telling us how well Kolisi is playing

Stormers send 9.
Starting to get pumped for tomorrow's announcement.
No idea about bolters, but interested to see if there are any...and if there are any, I wonder if they might be some red herrings to keep Gatland and co guessing what Rassie and Nienaber might be up to.
It's the one edge we have over the Lions, we can pick a big squad with a bunch of left field newbies that we don't have use, but that Gatland and his coaches will have to spend time analysing regardless.

Willie has been excellent in the last three matches with Evan Roos.
His tackling around the fringes was excellent. Marco look fat and slow last night.
