Is Paterson the one who was starting at full back? Was looking forward to watching him as ive never come across him before but kids made that impossible! Patterson was very solid, both in general defence and positional play but particularly under the high ball. He made a few nice attacking runs too which I expect we’ll see more of as he gains confidence, and his boot looks pretty long.
Muncaster for me isn’t just promising, he’s already there. He played like a seasoned vet and will slot in beautifully to our back row. Chances might be limited somewhat given he’s competing with Mata, but he should be targeting 10-15 starts next year IMO. He is physically well developed already, he works very hard, he was geeing up the other guys and looked solid in defence too. He also made one lovely break that should have led to a try if not for a terrible pass from the 9 I think, possibly Pyrgos by that point.

Sinckler has been excellent lately to be fair. It's been a stop start time for him this year with his ankle too which is a shame as he really seems to be starting to break through as a top level player. On the other side, it might be good for him and his body to have the summer off, an arm break will be 2 months, maybe 3 if a bad one. If he uses the time well he could really hit next season raring to go.
Yes, a sore one for him but probably a good time to do it.
Who is next off the rank for the summer tour?

Ally Miller has played a bit at 8 this season. Either that or Gordon as a 7 and try skinner at 8 a bit more.

John Hardie retires from professional rugby. 2015/16 Hardie was one of my favourite players to watch over the last decade of Scottish rugby. A proper 7.

It was once said that Peter Winterbottom would put his head where most players wouldn't put their feet, this was back in the old days of "show him the tackits" when someone was lying over the ball.
Hardie has a similar disregard for his own personal safety.

He’s played a bit of 8 for Edinburgh has he not, my (awful) memory suggests he has. He is pretty fast and is definitely ‘big enough’. He could definitely do it, but he still strikes me as a nasty bastard 6.

I don't think so, he's started mainly in the 7 shirt, but also in the 6. Miller has been playing 8 when they've played together this season, but Crosbie is an abrasive carrier, he links well and is a terrific lineout option.
Everyone in a team has to do all the other things like tackling well and being good over the ball, but running it back from a kick off is often done by the 8 and Crosbie can do that well. Likewise being an extra lineout option, with Ritchie that give you four top end jumpers. I haven't seen him "chicken wing" a pass out the back door like Mata, but few can do it as well as Big Bill.

England have named their preliminary squad for the summer. Fraser Dingwall is in, which will likely put that particular option to bed for good.
Interestingly Bevan Rodd is not in - I don't know how preliminary their squad is though, it might just be that he has commitments elsewhere and will join at a later date.

So do we think Nakarawa really failed his medical with Ulster, or did they just not fancy him after the year he has had at Glasgow and they've used the medical as an excuse?
