Yup. You know whenever anyone criticises his defence that they have never actually watched him

Was that the reason for the “flake” jibe?

It’s so far the reality it’s laughable

All leaving. Miller and Berghan going to the Weegies, Farndale back to the 7s.

Surprised by Sau, he has been decent recently.

I hope McCallum picks up a good club, I really thought he was going to be a top player. Hopefully he can emulate Turner and break through somewhere else.

Seems to leave them pretty short at tighthead?

Disappointed for Farndale. I saw him play for the U20s against Wales years back (Russell came on as a sub in that game) and he was a standout, scoring two tries in a beaten side. But his 15s career never quite got going.

They’ve got Dan Gamble coming through to fill the McCallum slot.

We might see Farndale back again in time, my understanding is he has been released to the GB sevens programme ahead of the Olympics…

Bayonne relegated to Pro D2 last night. Twitter seems very confident Huw Jones has a relegation clause and will no longer be joining. I wonder where he will end up. I’d actually be pretty pleased if he turned up back at Stormers.

That would cause all sorts of problems for him and Scotland though as their domestic season is different to ours. An enterprising English or French club will get a bargain. Signing for Bayonne who aren't rich anyway suggests his market wasn't very good so not good news for him.

How do you mean their domestic season is different? I presume you mean outside of the Pro14 where it is obviously the same. Rumour has it the SA sides will be in the champs cup after next season too, which I think would pretty much align the seasons, no?

He’s 6 foot 3 and 16 stone, that’s a fair size for a winger. He was excellent earlier in the season but most backs would look shit playing off pyrgos at 9 and kinghorn at 10.

They should have been in this season but travel restrictions due to COVID put paid to that; hence the rainbow cup.

He doesn't play 6'3 16stone. His defence and aerial game isn't great either.

I’d definitely agree he hasn’t been great but he’s a good player. Another victim of the Cockerill selection policy of only selecting ‘experience’. He should have had 20+ appearances this season, instead he’s probably had fewer than 10.

I think so, maybe Edinburgh were a bit better but wasted chances and the Scarlets were clinical.

Hardy is a good player to watch and the 15 who got in the Wales squad was exciting.

I’d love to see him at Edinburgh. Not likely to happen with Bennett filling that shirt though. Also, he’d be wasted with Cockers in charge.

Skinner was sent off at the weekend. Likely 3 game ban incoming.

Not sure...

I think he'll challenge it - a second row tackling a 5'8 scrum half who is being tackled so is low anyway is always tough. Skinner was hinged at the hips and wrapped his arms too.

I'd just like to see him getting game time wherever he goes. He seems like a player that needs to be playing regularly to get to his best, and at his best...

If there is any consistency by the disciplinary panel then Skinner wil get a 3 match ban like Ribbans did last week which has cost him his first England cap.
He will need to be very careful in challenging the red as he could well cop a longer ban than 3 matches if the challenge fails.

Can't see him getting out of that. It's tough for him to do much else, but it's a fairly simple decision for a red.

Hutchinson has been tearing up trees of late. His omission was crazy, hopefully he gets to play 13 and shows everyone what he can do.

2+2=5 from me, Johnson wasn’t in the squad in the first place, but is out injured.

Not sure I rate Hutchinson as an 8 tbf.

Due to injuries Hutchinson has played at 12 in 3 of the last 4 Saints games, I was worried his defence wouldn't be up to it but he showed up really well. I will show my ignorance and admit I don't really know what choices Scotland have at centre for the summer fixtures, would there be any chance of him playing at 12 or is he only seen as a 13?

Scott 12 Hutch 13 would be my choice. Not sure if Lang is 12 or 13?

So it looks as though they just forgot about Hutch and have remembered they have a decent centre there.

Reckon the SRU trying to save a bit of face here. Hutchinson’s omission was a big WTF moment. He then plays out of his skin in the next few games, and we’ve subbed him at the first injury call-off despite the player concerned playing in a completely different position. We see you, selectors. We see you!

Lang wants to be a 10, should be best suited to 12, is actually probably a better 13. He's not great though and has had a very poor season. I'll be very surprised if he kicks on any time soon.

Hutchinson always strikes me as someone who struggles a bit with defence.
