And a half decent pass by James there would have helped.
There was lots of preamble to tonight's game on the news this morning.
I've been bitten so many times following Scottish football that I've shut myself off from it. I had a look at the squad and I recognised two names, one of which was a mistake - one of the goalies shares the name John McLaughlin with a jazz guitarist.
Anyway, I'll be watching Finn tonight, there less chance of immense disappointment.

Was up in London last night, Scotland fans everywhere. Particular highlight was a bloke wearing a kilt and a saltire as a cape, otherwise topless, sat on his own at Piccadilly Circus working his way through a crate of cider.
Anticipating carnage but fingers crossed everyone vaguely behaves.
Nice of the Scots to bring their weather with them...

Some incredible videos going around of the Tartan Army in London - most of those lads seem to have timed the boozing so they'll have a few hours to nap through the afternoon before getting ready again. Not saying I've never seen a man's penis on the Jubilee Line, but never before 5pm...

I've mentioned it before, but when I was in Ibiza once many moons ago there was a group of Airdieonian fans who would come down every morning at 10am and start on the beers in the sun. Come 5pm they were all fucked and in bed and then repeated the same every day for 2 weeks. Never went out.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:46 am Some incredible videos going around of the Tartan Army in London - most of those lads seem to have timed the boozing so they'll have a few hours to nap through the afternoon before getting ready again. I think you are being very generous on the timing thing

Scotland looked marginally the better side.
My mate is there. Saying a few groups of fans arrived looking for grief but got short shrift from the Met.
Plenty of reports of Scottish men flashing poor bloody women just trying to walk on a street over the last few days so hey.
England's display was pretty much like their pre tournament stuff, turgid safety first crap relying on players playing on reputation ahead of the actual form players tearing it up. Oh well.

If Kane was any more immobile Oliver Letwin would be shouting that Marxists were going to tear him down and throw him in the Thames.
Kane is out of form.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:19 pmPlenty of reports of Scottish men flashing poor bloody women just trying to walk on a street over the last few days so hey.

Next game start Calvert Lewin and Grealish.
Drop Sterling, put Foden on that side, start Grealish. That should get them a win v the Czechs
And don't be afraid to let Sancho have some time on the pitch...iarmhí wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:36 pmKane is out of form.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:19 pmPlenty of reports of Scottish men flashing poor bloody women just trying to walk on a street over the last few days so hey.

Sterling is so frustrating. Consistently makes great runs and finds space behind the defence. Consistently loses the ball, misplaces passes, and wastes chances. It's ridiculous that Foden was the one who was substituted.
Phillips was ineffective tonight. McGinn just kicked his shins all evening.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:42 pmAnd don't be afraid to let Sancho have some time on the pitch...iarmhí wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:36 pmKane is out of form.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:19 pm

Eh, didn't think Rice was any better. McGinn should've had a yellow for that shocker on Kane right at the start anywayiarmhí wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:46 pmPhillips was ineffective tonight. Yeah that's exactly what we said
He is part of the problem. As is Kane, currently. As is Southgate's insistence on safety first football and endless backwards passing, and conservative substitutions.
But hey, because he's been the victim of a ridiculous media witch hunt and the target of many a racist, it's impossible to criticise Sterling for what he does badly for England, (same as it was at the world cup) without people pointing fingers.

Kane was abysmal. He didn’t even once back under someone jumping for a header or even get close to a dive in the penalty box. What else is he bringing to the team?
