Rabada's a complete natural cricketer. His batting reminds me of Shaun Pollock's. He's also got Pollock's occasional petulance. Just a great competitor. Ngidi's a absolute joy to watch when he's on song. Such an awesome smile when gets a wicket.
Amazing to think we have Kyle Abbott and Duanne Olivier both closing in on 500 first class wickets. Abbott is still a beast for Hampshire at 34. Heard rumours about Duanne Olivier coming back. He should still have a good few years left in him.
Daryl Dupavillon, Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen are 3 shit hot young quicks. We could be entering a West Indian type golden generation situation.
Sadly none of this will matter unless we can come up with a dominant batting lineup.

Damn! Missed that. Remember watching him as a rather plump youngster playing at the PMB oval against my nephew. We've come a long with our spinners. Pat Symcox, Nicky Boje, Paul Harris, Paul Adams never set the world alight. Interesting how the Indian community in SA has become a nursery for spinners. I guess its like Icelandic javelin throwers. I think Keshav and Tabraiz Shamsi would have gone a very long way if they grew up on sub-continent wickets. I particularly like Maharaj's approach to the game. He seems so focused and uses every bit of his talent.

Murders one hand catch for the hat trick was spectacular.
Maharaj a bit lucky down leg, but he will take it.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 5:33 pm Murders one hand catch for the hat trick was spectacular.
I like the gees in the Protea team, the players look happy and are stoked for their teammate's performances.

I was worried we started at only 10 an over, but luckily the middle order got going and brought it back to much more respectable 7 an over before leaving the finishers many over at the end to round it off in style.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:56 pm 160. On another note, Gayle has decided it's time too tee off.

De Kock disturbs the wickets before the direct hit.
Would have been out if de Kock hadn't broken the wickets.
The fielding has been excellent (when the ball hasn't been bouncing in the stands).
Lewis' luck runs out and Miller takes what I thought was a difficult chance, but what the disappointed West Indian commentator called a 'sitter'.

I don't think Bavuma had the best day.
Our best bowler only bowled 2 overs; Nortje went for 5 RPO overall and his second over cost just 2 runs, while Ngidi went for 15.66 and Rabada for an uncharacteristic 10.33.
Rabada and Ngidi both bowled 3 overs and who knows why Reeza Hendricks got an over, but Lewis and Gayle were probably very pleased that he did.
Funny, Bavuma is usually better than this when he captains the Lions.
160 is definitely below par, but I feel that our bowling attack is normally capable of defending low totals. In this instance, though, I don't think another 50 runs on the board would have won us the game.
I wouldn't mind seeing what Williams can do against this Windies batting, but I suppose there'd be howls of indignation from the Cape if Boucher selected another Titans player.

Captaining the Proteas vs reigning T20 champs is a far cry from captaining the Lions on a domestic competition.Rinkals wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:19 pm I don't think Bavuma had the best day.

Not much time to worry. We need some spin against the West Indies.

Rilee Roussow doing great in the Pak t20 league. Kind of batter we really need right now.
I like him as a player, but choose to leave SA, so not sure about his attitude.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:34 pm Rilee Roussow doing great in the Pak t20 league. Kind of batter we really need right now.

T20 is a crap shoot.
Anything can happen; a game can turn on the slightest piece of misfortune or on a lucky break.
The bulk of the WI players are hardened professionals who take delight in humiliating bowling attacks.
Our batting didn't fire, but I doubt another 50 runs would have done anything other than extend the game for another couple of overs.
We just need to bowl smarter.
I thought our fielding was excellent, direct hits on the stumps four times out of four, if I'm not mistaken. Problem is that good fielding isn't any good if you are picking the ball up from the back row of the second tier.

I'm not convinced by Klaasen. He's got worse averages than Bavuma who is a pretty good limited overs bat imo. Hard to drop the captain though.
The guy we really need is Rilee Roussouw. He's killing it in the Pakistani T20 league.
