But the idea that England ‘should’ beat so many different teams (in some peoples minds it’s everyone except Germany, Italy and Brazil) is one of the reasons everyone hates them.

I won’t actually begrudge England winning this tournament, as I’ll be able to watch gammons heads spin by pointing out that all England needed to win after all these years was a little injection of Marxism. And there would still be eight countries with a better record at the Euros than them (currently there are 12).
England are ranked 4th and Denmark are 10th...objectively its not a hugely controversial statement to make.
In football, 4th v 10th out of nearly 200 is pretty close. In European terms it’s 3rd v 7th out of fifty or so.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Is Rio Ferdinand on crack? England have looked solid, no doubt, and I do think they will probably win the thing but to say they’ve looked better than Italy or Spain is mental.

England scraped a draw at home against Scotland and we weren’t very good. Whereas Italy made Belgium look like Scotland.

It has been a brilliant tournament and just what we needed at the moment. Although we were pretty average it was genuinely really great to have Scotland involved in something like this again and gave us a good couple of nights up here.

An England win tonight would be good to eke out the interest for another few days

The Marcha Real, does not have official lyrics.
The unofficial lyrics are also inextricably linked with the period when Spain was ruled by General Franco, and singing them now would be out of the question for most Spaniards.

I've really enjoyed how little a gap there's been between most side. Sure, there's been a couple of one-sided games, but so many have been either impossible to call or just outright upsets. Loads of drama too. Great stuff!
