It's the very first thing Gatland did? Started with the Faf yellow and then ranted to world media about Jonker not being impartial?Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:54 am I've never seen someone in his position undermining refereeing performance to this extent. The last thing someone in his position should be doing is waging a campaign like this.

Coaches (and DORs) often comment on potential red card incidents. Not great, but it happens. A non neutral TMO is very much out of the ordinary for a test series and worthy of comment.sorCrer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:10 amIt's the very first thing Gatland did? Hour long videos and burner Twitter accounts bitching about every single decision down to not straight throws, not so much.
You comfortable with Rassie's latest content then?
Not comfortable with it but it seems to be the way rugby (and society in general) is going. I did find the bit about the Kolbe tackle and not rolling away quite interesting especially seeing as it happens in front of Berry and is in a kickable position. IMO the Lions have been offside at rucks a lot on the whole tour and not called for it.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:17 amCoaches (and DORs) often comment on potential red card incidents. The complaining about Faf's yellow was quite vociferous and pretty unbecoming from the Lions camp. They have been very quiet since last weekend's game.
The Lions got fucked on several occasions by the ref in the first half, there's genuinely no point to any of this.
Well yeah - never interrupt your enemy when he's in the process of making a mistakeThe complaining about Faf's yellow was quite vociferous and pretty unbecoming from the Lions camp. They have been very quiet since last weekend's game.

I'm pretty sure I could watch the game and point out multiple occasions where SA are offside at rucks.
It's rugby FFS. There are multiple infringements at every breakdown and it's a bloody hard game to ref.

Is this Rassie's equivalent to Woodward and Campbell on the 05 Tour?JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:16 amTo which Rassie responded in kind.sorCrer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:10 amIt's the very first thing Gatland did? At the end he's complaining about not straight lineouts.

And now your coach has said he hung Kwagga Smith out to dry by not getting the tactics right. So he's dropped him.
Is it any wonder all your young guys want to come and play for Scotland if they're going to be treated like that?
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Isn't it the players that don't get contracts in Japan, France, England, Ireland or Wales that end up in Scotland?
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
Yeh - we just fix them up properly after they have been broken elsewhere and send them to the Lions.handyman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:50 amIsn't it the players that don't get contracts in Japan, France, England, Ireland or Wales that end up in Scotland?
Superior coaching and better treatment of players, obviously.

Rassie fully off the deep end - bizarre
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
The Boks were offside a lot too and often in front of the kicker etc. If the refs are consistent then grand but it was the Lions who were the only side pinged being in front of the kicker on Saturday. If anyone could be arsed, you could go through every ruck and maul and pick up a penalty.sorCrer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:28 amNot comfortable with it but it seems to be the way rugby (and society in general) is going. This could back fire quite spectacularly on Rassie if the refs start getting pedantic.
On the last tour of SA the Lions got utterly fucked by a gouge being picked up and not being red carded in the first minute of the game and I don't remember this level of whinging.

I've just watched the whole thing. I suggest that anybody who wants to climb into Rassie does the same.
His reasons for doing the video are clear; World Rugby have not given him the time to discuss his concerns. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with a video like this going into the public domain, but his frustrations are clear.
Regarding the points he raises, he does make very good points. I totally missed the spear tackle by Duhan on Mapimpi after Am's hit on Daly. I'm sure if Gatland did the same thing, he'd pick up on a lot of things too, but Rassie put's forward a very damning case against the match officials.
I don't think anybody is going to come away from this looking good.

Picking out a few dangerous tackles etc, OK. Picking out every possible ruck offence, and worse, not straight lineouts? Come on.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:31 am I've just watched the whole thing. I suggest that anybody who wants to climb into Rassie does the same.

And his brain by the look of things too.RASSIE ERASMUS is battling a life-threatening illness, according to South African media reports.
The 47-year-old who transformed the national team from a laughing stock to world champions within 18 months struggled with a rare autoimmune disease last year.
Called microscopic polyangiitis with granulomatosis, it can affect organs such as the kidneys and lungs and also sinuses and trachea.
This series is going to be remembered for Rassie going mental. If we do not win this weekend it's going to be carnage on Twitterassfly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:31 am I've just watched the whole thing. I suggest that anybody who wants to climb into Rassie does the same.

The not straight lineouts is pedantic agreed.
But often the examples he cites came at critical moments in the match and often in kickable positions.
I feel like anyone who thinks Rassie is making really good points here is going to have their mind blown by anyone who goes through a replay of a rugby match looking for shit that wasn't picked up or was incorrectly calledassfly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:31 am I've just watched the whole thing. I agree, I'm sure Gatland could do the same. Boks weren't angels.
I applaud Rassie for raising these issues, but for the sake of our game I don't think it should be done in the public domain like this.
I don't think there's anything to applaud. Everyone knows plenty of stuff is missed. He's being incredibly self-serving and deeply disingenuous.
Would you say the video is warranted? Is it as bad as some posters have made it out to be? I can only have a look tonight.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:31 am I've just watched the whole thing. I suggest that anybody who wants to climb into Rassie does the same.

He's not hysterically blaming the ref for our loss. He's simply talks us through several incidents and gives us his thoughts. I knew the ref was bad, but I didn't know he was that bad.
