Ramiro Moyano, Arg international back three player, joins Embra from Toulon.

Emiliano Boffelli, Arg international centre/wing/fb, joins Embra from Racing Metro

I should edit this out, but I'm not ashamed of my tardiness to the breakdown

Edinburgh Rugby have pulled off a major coup ahead of the 2021/22 season with the signing of Argentinian international backs Emiliano Boffelli and Ramiro Moyano, subject to visa and medical.

Boffelli, 26 – who can operate at centre, wing or full-back – and Moyano, 31 – a full-back / winger – will bring a significant boost to the attacking threats of the Edinburgh Rugby backline.

Moyano, who has been capped 36 times and signs from RC Toulon, will join the squad’s pre-season preparations in the coming weeks, while Boffelli, capped 31 times, will make the switch in October following the conclusion of the Rugby Championship, having just recently left Racing 92.
That's a bit of a statement of intent. Duhan and Sau have actually been replaced, and I wasn't really expecting that. Although I suppose there must be room in the budget after the recent departures. These two and Immelman are a decent set of options in addition to the SQ lads.

I wonder if we will see a prop come in, that's probably where the squad is weak now, numbers wise.

Disappointed for Price who didn't deserve to be dropped but I see the appeal of speeding up from the bench or contuining the gameplan.

Feel sorry for Watson but I think that's inevitable he had a poor showing off the bench.
Yep, that’s where I’m at. Presumably Price is a tactical switch, but dropping him from the starting 15 is really rough on the guy after his performance last week. It’s not as if Murray did anything of note after coming on, so I really struggle with the logic behind that decision.

I think Mish might have been starting if he had kept the head. Now he’s out of the 23 altogether. Silly boy.

Edinburgh could do with a lock imo. You're right about a prop though - another option at LH I think is needed.

I might have a bit of hope for the future here if Blair can get the backs firing. Shiel and Vellacot with old head Pyrgos at 9, Savala and Chamberlain with old head van der Walt at 10, a fair amount of choice at centre with young guys like Venter, Currie and Hutchison coming through, and a fair amount of threat in the back three as well. Back row still stacked too.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

They definitely need Chamberlain to step up and get a good few games under his belt, the other 10's are very ropey

Agree with comments re Embra so far, these are excellent signings and strengthen the squad immeasurably. With Blair coming in and the options now available in the backs I'm a bit more confident about our progress next season.

6 locks is enough, I would have thought.

I'm hoping for more from Jaco under the new regime, I always thought he was naturally more of a running 10 but we never saw much of that when he was playing to plan.

It will be interesting to see whether Lang adds anything at 12, I've not really watched him enough to know if he is a step up.

I think they're also very excited by Savala.

A big reason Cockers had to go I think was his refusal to develop Chamberlain and Savala. As well as other young players. Really excited to see what Blair gets from Shiel.

That's good. I've hardly seen him play to be fair, but didn't see much when I did. Would be great if he steps up.

Quite motivated to go and see this Edinburgh team a bit more.

Would hope it would be Romania. Yes they are shite, but the game in the summer would have given them some exposure they deserve. I wouldn't be against a 4th test against a tier 2/3 nation every autumn and play young guys in it.

Completely agree, it’s outrageous the amount of lip service that gets paid to these guys and nothing happens - not just Scotland of course who actually have one of the better records of playing them

Always seems to be the one that gets mentioned . In regards to Jaco he really needs to step up, hopefully a change will benefit but he's never impressed consistently.

The 4th test is v Tonga.

https://www.scottishrugby.org/news/scot ... ons-series

Tickets are really cheap for this one:

Prices for this extra game start at £16 for adults and £11 for U18s, with U12s tickets only £1 (in Bronze and Silver category). 2-Match Packages and individual match tickets go on sale for all four Autumn Nations Series games at 10am on Monday 2 August. The sale will be online only from the Scottish Rugby Online Ticket Centre.
So I squares up, casual like.

Think there's a discount on the headline price for Season pass holders as well.

Good move, should manage to punt another million and a half quid into the revenue stream on tickets alone.

Just assumed they would be but at reduced capacity.

All of the Friday night games will be shown on the BBC sport website and SRU website.

Yes generally or 1 or 2 years out of the u20s.

The only one I can see is Robbie McCallum at 12 for Muir.

Bit of rust on display but entertaining enough and a dramatic finish. Baretto was quite lively for Boroughmuir, he was probably the difference in the first half.

Welp. Had a good time watching the game with Somersetjock.

Pretty awful game though, and it’s hard to argue that none of our players did themselves justice. Though I’m not sure anyone wearing red did.

After being one of the better performers under the high ball last week, Hogg had exactly the sort of game today that his Welsh and Irish detractors wanted to see. I suspect he and Duhan will both be dropped, even though Watson was no better. I am mystified as to why Duhan has been picked to play given there is clearly no intention to actually give him the ball.

However, if we’re dropping Hogg and VdM, Price has to start (Murray was abysmal) and Watson should get his chance (Curry did absolutely nothing all game).

Totally this. Harris was about the only spectator at that game but may have a neck injury from watching the ball go up in the air. If Russell is able to play he has to be on the bench at least.

Agreed on that assessment, but I’d add Biggar to the list of those who had very poor games. I would be surprised to see wholesale changes though, there’s no evidence any of the others will do any better and there are no second chances now. Perhaps one or two changes will be made, Hogg and Murray the main candidates for me.

The big thing that *does* need to change is the gameplan.
