I hope the lions win this one by a margin that's completely beyond any accusation of ref bias etc. I don't see it happening, and suspect the boks take this one (thought they would as soon as the lions won the first one closely).

Very interesting on the Legends fireside chat.

John Smit, Percy Montgomery, Wynand Olivier and Zane Kirchner.

Re the Rassie thing.
Smit.
It's a relationship, rugby. If you start nitpicking your wife at home and start pointing out all her mistakes she starts doing the same to you and then the relationship is over and it's divorce proceedings.
No ref can get everything right. The only regret is that wrong calls can affect players careers. Eg. Itoje. He should have got a yellow card for stealing the ball on his knees on the tryline. He went on to win man of the match. Equally the scrumming that injured Ox and ended his BIL tour has influenced his career. So small things can have huge consequences.

Wynand.
The public deserve consistency. Rassie has drawn attention to himself like Gatland before the last test. But we all know that if a baby cries enough it will be fed.....

If we don't sort out countering the rolling mauls we are in for a long day . There are a few players just not interested in putting in effort there and hopefully got a kick in the butt. Watch the first BILs try from 43.03.

Ox went flying in the scrum because his flanker and 2nd row lifted him. It's the guys behind you that lift you up, not the guys in front, all they have to do is stay still, which is a long way from illegal. Yes Curry was illegal, but so was the driving up, the lost binds, the boring in etc etc, his was one offence, and did not cause the flying.

Why do you keep mentioning 2007?

Every rugby game has to now have massive controversy and drama.

It is what keeps supporters keen and interested and discussing it throughout the week.

The more ref fuck ups, the more outrage the more drama, the better it is for the game.
Rugby lives off controversy.
Hate to break it to you, but a lot of these narratives are created and planned before the match, by PR and Marketing departments to protect the brand and image of the team and players, that they spend years building up.
I cannot remember the last time Wales beat England and they didn't do it by sheer luck, controversy or a ref mistake.

It is not amateur hour anymore.
Rugby is professional sport, on and off the field and lives on outrage and anger.
You are being used a lot of the time.

Kinda agree ...
John felt Ox deserves the starting spot based on his all round performance. Now this setback will affect his career at the boks...there was boring in that led to the injury.
As he said. Can't get everything right as ref. But calls can affect careers

Flying kills your neck, boring in isn't going to hurt the loosehead like that. When flying your head is stuck whilst the people behind you are driving you up and forwards. Worse, Siya seems to be twisting his leg as well, adding another direction of force is where you start to risk breaking your neck. I've had pleasure of doing it, and it's 100% the guys behind you that cause you to lift, the guys in front can cause you to stand, but there's now way for them to lift your feet off the ground, that's down to the guys behind not giving ground when they should.

You can see when there's the initial shove from the boks, that Furlong nearly flies, but the lions locks "coil" up a bit, which keeps Furlongs feet on the ground as the boks drive forwards. He then secures himself and stops retreating, but the boks keep the drive on. Ox has nowhere to go forwards and basically the only way the power coming from his lock/flanker can go is up.

I mean Smit has a point. If the ref blew for the SA player flying off his feet then Itoje wouldn't have got that turnover.

Are we really going to start blaming refs for ruining careers now?

England had a perfectly good try disallowed by a bent TMO. They would have won the world cup had they not been robbed. Obviously.

Bosman isn't a referee.
He's a cuntish thug who deliberately injured a fellow player by stamping on his knee

If you have a laptop/pc download the NOW TV app, then download NVIDIA shadowplay, run the NOW tv app, get the game running and then press ALT Z and it will record whatever is on your screen, you can then watch it later.
I may give that a try - thanks. If it fails (or eats my laptop) then I see that Sky Sports Arena is showing it again at midnight, which I assume NowTV will allow me to watch. Talking of which, am I right to think that signing up to NOW for the first time is close to instant...?
