Like the rest of his game, it's either brilliant or awful. But the former significantly outweighs the latter.
Aussies doing their best to help the ABs out by dropping Bell for the very journeyman Sio. Thanks Dave!

Rassiie usually played mind games announcing at the latest. Now they need to plan ahead because of the fixture list, Pretty sure he had his team for the next game already on paper. Strangely you still get supporters complaining about certain players but they have a squad of 47 to select from and everyone need a chance.
Long may that continue. I'm not entirely sold on Reece as a long term starter either, tbh. Our backline is still too unsettled, with too many unproven defenders at this level for my liking. Nervous...Certain Navigator wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 8:10 amLike the rest of his game, it's either brilliant or awful. But the former significantly outweighs the latter.

Pretty sure the All Blacks will smash the Wallabies. Very worried about the Springboks. Everybody is on a high after the BILs series win. The Pumas is in the ideal position to ground is us with ease. I think they will beat us. Scvores:

He is a very special player. Only 17 caps in!
I can see him sticking around. The $harks can afford to keep him and I would pay him whatever he's asking for.
I do find it peculiar that our black players seem to be much less likely to travel overseas than others. Players like the Beast, Kolisi, Nkosi, Bongi, the Ndungani twins, Mvovo, Nyakane, Mohojé have all stayed in SA despite probably receiving good offers.
The only exceptions are Mapimpi (short stint in Japan), Mapoe (Japan and France), JPP (France but returned to Sharks) and Rhule (France).

A guy like Beast must have had mega offers from France over the years
Dont talk kak.....We finally have a flyhalf that likes to play a running game instead of kick and pray and a backline full of pace..........the only confusion could be defensive lines and Kwagga getting found out again.......OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:38 am Pretty sure the All Blacks will smash the Wallabies. Ahh Squidge. Bless him. He's super enthusiastic but just believes everything is amazing or that things that happen by chance are actually the result of 6D chess planning
On the Kolbe try: No, it wasn't an excellent kick by Price - it's actually too short, the Lions chasers have to essentially stop and therefore have no advantage. "Instead of running straight at Conan, he runs a bit infield. He's luring Conan as far away from Kolbe as possible" - yeah uh Conan doesn't once make a move infield though, so running straight at him would've done the same thing
"This pass is so crisp, it catches Am flat-footed!" yeah uh it also catches VDM flat-footed, because it's aimed at his hip, so VDM stopping actually stops Am for a second - it's a happy coincidence, not something to go wild over
"Finn calls for a Curry carry into (defensive leader) Malherbe, taking him out of the game" I mean no, it's a one-out carry that the Lions did repeatedly, and it's Price who decides who to hit, Russell was calling for the ball
He's really really excited by the concept of a 10 making themselves available for the pullback from a prop, something we've seen from Furlong and Sinckler throughout the tour...
"Am takes an extra step in the cleanout to slow Curry" - well no, he's not doing that at all, he's completing the cleanout on the guy he's cleaning out
The idea that the Saffers deliberately ran at Lawes/Sinckler/LCD at the end because they have a rep for giving away penalties is absolutely farcical. For a start, these are some of the Lions biggest defenders, who'd be making sure they're marking the obvious carrying options for the Saffers. Second, that's a mad idea - those players don't have a rep for being penalised for their tackling. Lawes gave away a penalty by not making a solid hit and ending up on the wrong side desperately trying to lasso the ball carrier's legs. What the fuck is this analysis
Classic Squidge, loves to read far too much into the simplest of situations. And he spent barely a second wondering why the Lions didn't kick their penalties when they had the chance.

I was referring specifically to black Africans, I would consider JdJ and Carr as colours. Not sure about Johnson.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:32 am Wasps have had Ashley Johnson, Juan de Jonge and Nizam Carr (now back with us for his second stint).

Ah, cultural difference then. How is that judged, is it largely darkness of skin tone?assfly wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:25 amI was referring specifically to black Africans, I would consider JdJ and Carr as colours. Carr in particular is fairly light skinned, but I've definitely known and seen Brits with equivalent tones or lighter still identify as black, some others as mixed race.
Two fantastic players and RWC winnersOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:16 ambackline full of pace.= Frans Steyn, Jesse Kriel
Don't get much better a defender than Frans. Great boot. Class player . Very experienced. Same with Jesse. Jesse seems to be forgotten but he was our starting 13 for years.
What do you want. A team of complete rookies
....Andre Esterhuizen and Juan de Jong.........for fill in center's.
Tell me please what you want
I can tell you straight out I am very happy with experienced players running the defense with rookies out wide to show what they have got.

Johnson is also a coloured, his dad played for WP League in the old days.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:45 amAh, cultural difference then. It's a bit of a crass subject these days, but by coloured they are most likely from the Western Cape like Carr and JdJ. They are essentially the same as mixed race, but the "mixing" component of their history goes way back.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:45 am Ah, cultural difference then. Mixed race is less common in the traditional British sense as mixed marriages are still fairly uncommon. Although attitudes towards this appear to be slowly changing, helped with people like Kolisi and his wife and kids.
By black I would refer to South African with a bantu heritage and quite dark skin, and usually a surname like the ones I listed earlier.

The matrix below is the work of Patric Tariq Mellet in his book "The Lie of 1652"
He illustrated the ancestry of Cape Coloureds & divided it into 7 streams.
According to his research the average Cape Coloured has ancestry across 2-7 of these categories.
It does however leave out the descendants of the early white Port Natal settlers who mixed with local Ngunis. Hence the proliferation of names like Farewell, Fynn, Dunn and Ogle amongst KZN coloureds. They were white ivory hunters and traders who moved North into Zululand and took local wives.
