Next weekend we can start the likes of van Staden, Hendrikse and use his full squad.

After watching both matches today the Bokke defensive structures and scrumming the best. We also have great depth .

Wiese MOTM
Hendrickse nor red card but try on debut
Whats going on here? Werent able to watch the game today... Sounds quite good, plus a Bonus Point. Well done

Yep. Not as flashy as the All Blacks or Wallabies, but we are FINALLY putting down some decent foundations to build on.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 5:19 pm After watching both matches today the Bokke defensive structures and scrumming the best. We also have great depth .
It will take time, but as long as the team is winning, the sponsors and fans will give the coaching team the freedom they need to do their thing.
Once you have a happy, winning, empowered team…then they might start playing with confidence in all aspects of the game. If for now we just keep our defense and scrum and build from that, I’m happy.

Best performance by far. Also depending on the opposition. I really felt this Argentina team was way off the pace and nowhere near the quality we have become used to from them.
But you play what's in front of you and you take your opportunities when given them. He did that today. So well done to him.
He is growing on me.
There are some players who just haven't stepped up and need to make way for others to get a chance.
My first pick is Kwagga. Loved him in Superrugby. Not so much with the Springboks. Thank goodness the front row put on such a masterclass performance. ( we need to revisit this)... because his light weight frame did not get exposed there , but for the rest of his game it's not working. Nienaber has really boxed himself in here.

I backed Wiese since last weekend. He show improvement since his first Test. He got the right mongrel for test rugby, ditto Hendrikse.boere wors wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 5:29 pm Wiese MOTM

He is too small for Bok 8 and doesn't provide enough at the scrum. He carried well today but once he is scragged he gets pulled down quickly and he hasn't got the best hands. Dan du Preez is a better option.
Kwagga however is the real mystery to me.
Wynona Louw clearly finished all her stock during the game and has dipped into the paint thinners:
Damian Willemse 7: Put in some good kicks and his chase was on point as well. Had a good game in his starting berth at fullback.

Yes, thought he really did ok in the Lions series, given the occasion, being on test debut and replacing a player like Duane Vermeulen. Big ask, but he kept his cool and was strong on defence. Can gear up now with confidence.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:39 pmI backed Wiese since last weekend. He show improvement since his first Test. Nobody gets Kwagga except for our coaching team. We should get Jean Luc du Preez back in as 7 and lock cover. And yes, while I think that Wiese did quite well against the Lions and apparently today as MOTM, I would like to see Dan du Preez get a start at 8.sorCrer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:43 pmI'm not convinced.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:39 pmI backed Wiese since last weekend. Yeah except MOTM is awarded by the twat commentators who didn't even know about the 3 try bonus point and neither did Wiese when interviewed.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:54 pmI like van Staden aswell. Van Staden is great, unfortunately a textbook openside with rather little versatility to play the other back row positions. Will have to wait for kolisi to rest to get a startOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:54 pmI like van Staden aswell. Wiese MOTM? You Klingons are easily pleased. He went up against a Puma team barely interested. AB will man-shame him, Pollsmoor style.
The best Boks were Etsebeth (yet again), Fassi (I admit I’m a new fan) and Fat Frans. Lood also quality.
Agree it’s nice to see no sign of Rassie in PE. Nienaber did fine on his own.
