It's an amazing tournament with great heritage. Adding the Boks seems like a cheap cash grab...because it is.

I like the international calendar as-if actually. Wouldn't mess with it too much, although I wish there was one extra week in mid-year and one extra week at the end-of-year international windows that players would get released by their clubs. It would make it more feasible for Tier 1 teams to play a warmup against some Tier 2 nations and it would allow 1 SH team per year a shot at a NH grand slam challenge.

Tinker with the feeder tournaments all they like, but leave the international schedule the hell alone.

Via the official channels, sure. Making his little home video (that was definitely not made to be widely seen *wink wink, nudge nudge*), no.

He's not the first to have a bit of a moan about not getting the response he wanted out of the official mode of communication, however, as his video suggests, a lot of directors of rugby/head coaches tend to be fairly myopic with what they raise through that channel. Many of them probably wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than World Rugby doing a full mea culpa, issuing a groveling apology and vowing never to let the team be reffed by particular officials ever again. World Rugby wouldn't be doing their jobs if they just acquiesced and made coaches happy.

There's a shallow pool of refs and it's shallower still when we get to those who are capable of keeping up with play at the top level and making the right decision most of the time. If World Rugby stood down or dropped them every time coaches complained we wouldn't have a international rugby any more.

Rugby is fundamentally a difficult game to get 100% right even before you factor in 30 blokes constantly trying to push or outright break the laws. We either accept that and get on with it as things will even out over time or we sit around stewing over it, raising blood pressure and shortening our lives. That's not to say I'll never be annoyed by a decision, but you learn to let it go quick and it's something I've admired about Wasps' coaches in recent years. They've been phlegmatic even in the face of some pretty raw decisions. An example to follow.
