Also who hates a rugby team? That's missing the point in spectacular style
The Welsh and Scottish hate a rugby team. And most of the Irish. And the French definitely hate a rugby team.

You lot are definitely spinach in this metaphor - something everyone has a bit of now and then because they should rather than because they want to.average joe wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:44 amYou can have spinach and broccoli. Yeah, I really like playing the South African teams in the URC but the Six Nations is something different. It's not really about the standard of rugby, it's more about the occasion as fans. Traditional trips away, and Edinburgh being packed with rugby fans for the weekend.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:44 am I don't want South Africa in the 6N, and it's nothing personal and shouldn't be taken that way.
The 6N is special because of the tradition that goes with it, it should be an annual competition between the best in Europe, yes Italy have only been with us for 20 years, but I'd rather have Georgia join us than South Africa.
I don't care that the standards would rise with South Africa, or that more money would come in, it's not about that. I know a lot of people dismiss tradition in the rush for cash, but it should not be poo-pooed or dismissed, some things are important - I could write a small essay about the excitement on 6N weekends, as a kid I used to get the train up to Edinburgh with my mates and walk along to Murrayfield, or on away weekends you get the papers out on Saturday mornings and read every column inch about the upcoming games, later as a club player we always had early games in Edinburgh so that we could watch the international match. My hometown club has the oldest club fixture between Scottish and Irish teams, it's been going for 70 years now, played on a Friday, dinner, piss-up and then in to Dublin or Edinburgh the next day.
The 6N is fine as it is.

Same. I do however wish that WR would extend the November test window to 4 weeks.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 10:14 amrobmatic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:57 am

I also like having the "Big Three" and others playing here in November.
