I must jinx him. Whenever I see Amos play he seems to screw something up.

He's a Durban born Maritzburg College boy from a community which is traditionally more soccer focused. I thought he scrummed very well for a converted loose forward. It would do wonders for rugby in KZN to have a Zulu Springbok one day. I'm backing this kid to be the first one.
There has never been a Zulu Springbok? Why is that?
Amongst the black African population, rugby has only really been the sport of choice in the Eastern Cape/ Border region. This is Xhosa country where Nelson Mandela comes from. Siya Kholisi, Mapimpi and Lukhanyo Am are all from eKoloni. Kwa-Zulu Natal has always been soccer country amongst the black population. But with around 9 million Zulus its a real exciting prospect for rugby development. There are a lot of short thicc youngsters with amazing potential. Sbu Nkosi is of Zulu heritage but from from a family that has settled in the Lowveld. So I don't know if he identifies as Zulu but his name is definitely pure Zulu. The Zulu nation is a sleeping rugby giant imo. They are increasingly getting the opportunity to go to traditional rugby schools and are absolutely killing it.

Theres a youngster called Mambo Mkhize from Westville Boys High. Google his highlights. I hate to overhype youngsters but I will be certainly following his progress. He's a centre in the SBW mould. A decent size and plenty of x-factor.
Thanks! Appreciate that

The Sharks players are in the stands supporting the Bulls. A bit of a lesson for the one eyed provincial supporters among us I feel, they would do well to follow the example of the Sharks players and supporters.

I presume tour operators will start to do 10 day trips for fans, when things return to some kind of normal. It'd be a great addition to the matches to have some travelling support

There was an interview with the Stormers coach today saying the trip over here has been brilliant with the players being given time to sightsee and go out for a few beers. He said especially for youngsters, many of whom have never been out of SA, it has been a life changing trip and instilled a rugby ethos they might never have got otherwise. Great stuff

Which one eyed supporters are you talking about? We all support the Saffer teams.

Maybe you post on some other forum.

Sards have a massive problem with Damian Willemse but he still supports the Stormers today.

There's maybe some market for it, expensive though. When South Africans do a trip like that it tends to only be for the Boks, a bucket list thing like "watch the Boks at a world cup" or "see the Boks play at Twickenham/Cardiff/Dublin/Edinburgh/Paris/Rome" or "see the Boks v ABs in NZ". You would be more likely to get people from SA if the tours were closer to a Springbok test and included that. There's probably more of a market for fans from Ireland/Wales/Scotland/Italy going to SA on a holiday with some matches thrown in.

Because the cities are close together, what would work is when there's two matches in the same country a day apart (like the Sharks and Bulls this round), is a ticket for a friday game and saturday game/hotel for the friday/travel. The market for South African's in UK/Ireland interested in that will be a couple of hundred maybe the low thousands (it's not the Boks so the market will be smaller). Wales matches will get the most South African fans whatever happens, because it's the easiest to get to from London/south of England where most South Africans in Europe are.

So so relieved to get that Sharks win in. So sick and tired of the Stomps that keep on giving us lip about dollars etc. .

That was a very convincing win. Against a decent team. But biggest was there is improvement. Starting to look a team. And some very good players set to join the team. Not convinced about Boetas kicking. Without Ruan it would have been a different game. Basically another Willemse type flyhalf.

Onwards and upwards.

Our guys have been battling a lot with the breakdown interpretation. There was some improvement but they're still flying mindlessly into rucks. This learning experience is going to be great for our rugby. Our coaching teams need to be bringing this back home and sharing it. SARU should really be investing heavily in our coaching structures. Clinics, training courses, internships etc.

I don't know how the SA teams have got away with some ruck clearances they have been making. Mind you, the same applies to the Scottish teams I have watched so maybe there has been an interpretation adjustment.

I left SA after 10 years there some 30 years ago. My Afrikaans was only basic back then so most has gone now. Nonetheless, our season tickets are next to where the visiting teams sit and I could make out a bit of what was going on between the Edinburgh SA players and the Stormers. I was quite surprised to hear some of our SA players who are famously reticent really taking the piss out of the Stormers.

I was a bit a confused the hear the Stormers player and staff shouting 'Bokke' as well as 'Stormers'. In my day 'Bokke' were only the national team.

I was dubious about the SA teams coming in, but so far I'm enjoying it. This may be just the freshness of new teams, but so far so good.
