Well perhaps Worcester should spend time working out how to play rugby rather than just signing Van de Merwe and Sutherland on big money and expecting them to make a differencesockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:41 pm Can't begrudge Saints supporters enjoying the result, but scorelines like this aren't good for the league.
It's very frustrating, as Worcester bring through some decent players from their academy as well as their signings, but can't seem to get the coaching side of things right.mos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 11:08 pmWell perhaps Worcester should spend time working out how to play rugby rather than just signing Van de Merwe and Sutherland on big money and expecting them to make a differencesockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:41 pm Can't begrudge Saints supporters enjoying the result, but scorelines like this aren't good for the league.
Even Falcons have managed to move away from being constant basement dwellers, but Worcester never seem to manage it.

Don't get me wrong, all blame for getting thrashed sits squarely on the shoulders of Worcester and, frankly, I'm coming round to the idea of keeping the league at 12 teams and ditching them.mos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 11:08 pmWell perhaps Worcester should spend time working out how to play rugby rather than just signing Van de Merwe and Sutherland on big money and expecting them to make a differencesockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:41 pm Can't begrudge Saints supporters enjoying the result, but scorelines like this aren't good for the league.
They have a history of splurging money on a few signings and hoping that'll sort them out.

When you've been as bad as them for as long as they have been it's difficult to attract good coaches and players. Moreso the latter, though, I would've thought. A player can have a couple of years at a crap team and still get picked up by someone better provided they weren't personally too poor. Coaches don't tend to get the same leeway.geordie_6 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 7:00 amIt's very frustrating, as Worcester bring through some decent players from their academy as well as their signings, but can't seem to get the coaching side of things right.mos_eisely_ wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 11:08 pmWell perhaps Worcester should spend time working out how to play rugby rather than just signing Van de Merwe and Sutherland on big money and expecting them to make a differencesockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:41 pm Can't begrudge Saints supporters enjoying the result, but scorelines like this aren't good for the league.

They have some injuries too, but still...
Splurge on your pack and a 9. They had Hougaard who won games for them before and i can't imagine wasps are paying him a huge amount as 2nd choice with good backups already.

Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
They have brilliant facilities though so you would hope that would count for something.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 8:22 amWhen you've been as bad as them for as long as they have been it's difficult to attract good coaches and players. The old owners, who I know very well, only really had it as a play thing, but I hoped the new ones might move the club forward

LI will be looking to extend their impressive winless streak on the road to Exeter in today's televised game. A few injuries at 7, so a debut for Tom Pearson. Think they're trying to recreate the Alex Dombrandt magic, as he's also been plucked from BUCS rugby with Cardiff Met this summer.

Very promising opening 10, beating the clock at the moment.

That's even brighter. May at least get a TBP

That caps off the momentum shift that kicked in almost as soon as Irish scored their second.

Staunch defence from Irish there. This is why I'm a fan of the drop out law change, that kind of D deserves rewarding and if you want to avoid it as an attacker, maybe try getting the ball wide where there might be some space rather than smashing into a collection of forwards over and over again.

Ah, could have done with a few points at the end there.
In with a shout still though

First ten minutes of each half have certainly been veyr profitable for Irish.

Another really well worked try. The clock is increasingly not Exeter's friend.

Congrats, Irish. Bonus point wins down at Sandy Park don't come around often.
More ambitious in attack and thoroughly deserving of the result.

Well if you're going to end a long winless streak, you may as well do it in style. Cracking performance

Quins would appear to be developing a fetish for second half comebacks against the West Country.

Some rumblings in the press (well, it appears to be from the rugby paper, if my third hand report is correct) that Bruce Craig is looking to sell up at Bath, apparently with James Dyson waiting in the wings.
Not sure that constitutes progress.

Yes, read that in TRP.inactionman wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 8:30 am Some rumblings in the press (well, it appears to be from the rugby paper, if my third hand report is correct) that Bruce Craig is looking to sell up at Bath, apparently with James Dyson waiting in the wings.

Dyson is already a major sponsor at Bath.
Not sure a change of ownership will make any difference unless they bring in a wiser, more experienced DoR and a change of culture.

Fuck's sake. Another centre injured and it doesn't look good.
Dinsdale, not sure what your dotted posts are about, but are you aware that you can delete posts here?

And now we've lost Cruse again, so a loanee from Doncaster runs on to play hooker.
Head injury two weeks running for Cruse?sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:34 pm And now we've lost Cruse again, so a loanee from Doncaster runs on to play hooker.

Not quite, he's missed the last 3 due to a head injury, this was his return.Dragster wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:36 pmHead injury two weeks running for Cruse?sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:34 pm And now we've lost Cruse again, so a loanee from Doncaster runs on to play hooker.
At least we get Oghre back from suspension next week.

Well at least we didn't concede a try bonus point in the first half unlike some teams have in games this season.
Already used four of the bench, three for injury.
