NZ will pull away a bit too much now.

The South Africans have been in poor form with the bat in this tournament. Glen Phillips may be the exception though.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 11:16 am Why has Devon Conway gone into his shell in terms of batting?

Duly thrashed.convoluted wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 5:28 pm Having safely negotiated Afghanistan, which we have yet to do, India's run rate at the end of this game will be interesting.
They could well thrash Scotland.
They'll annihilate Namibia as well.
They know they can still snatch qualification on run rate.

^^^ run rate just come up.
India have the jump on us in that, and have also surpassed Afghanistan's run rate.

So NZ just have to win against Afghanistan to take NRR out of the equation.
NRR seems to be a bit unfair though. It is all down to the toss. If an associate team gets put in first then the 'stronger' side has a better chance of getting a superior NRR due to the fact that they know what they have to do as oppose to set a target and bowl to it.

TBH I'm swaying toward India getting through simply as it would make the finals a much better watch than NZ with its handful of rather dour ground spectators.
Imagine instead an India-England semi.
And if they make it through that then a blockbuster against Pakistan with a packed and heaving and screaming stadium ... and imagine the cameraman being able to focus on bouncing sub-continent women literally with every boundary or wicket right throughout each innings.

If the Black Caps can't tharsh Afghanistan they don't deserve a semi spot.
Proteas will beat England but Australia will go through on NRR.
That's the way we go in cricket WCs

That would be an amazing final. However India and Pakistan possess 150+ nuclear warheads each. I'd rather NZ got through.convoluted wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 5:35 pm TBH I'm swaying toward India getting through simply as it would make the finals a much better watch than NZ with its handful of rather dour ground spectators.

Genuinely don't think NZ will beat Afghanistan. Batters aren't firing, bowlers seem way to hittable.convoluted wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 5:35 pm TBH I'm swaying toward India getting through simply as it would make the finals a much better watch than NZ with its handful of rather dour ground spectators.

I'd love NZ to win the whole thing - but no way they are beating England, Australia or Pakistan.
Tournament schedule massively fixed in favour of India by giving them their last game against the lowest qualifier the day after everyone else has finished all their matches. Allowing them to know exactly what run rate they would need to chase.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Hopefully it won't come to NRRBiffer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 9:13 pm Tournament schedule massively fixed in favour of India by giving them their last game against the lowest qualifier the day after everyone else has finished all their matches. The West Indies are a team of selfish cowards. So much talent and such shit attitudes. They should play as individual islands because they really have been a team devoid of pride for a very long time.

What he and Windies have done is to confirm SA are finished.
I don't think it matters really.
With the West Indies giving up any self respect, even if the Proteas beat England, they are unlikely to go through.
I'd like for South Africa to make England work for it, though.
I'd hate it if we simply let England win as the Windies did for Australia. Even if there's nothing in the game for us.

Load shedding starting at 16h00.
SA need to win by more than 60 runs to overtake the Ozzies on NRR, so they know what their target is.Rinkals wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 1:51 pmI don't think it matters really.

England were always going to be favourites and to win we had to pull out a good performance.
Reezer gives up early. Let's hope the rest can find some fight.
