Woke up 30 minutes ago and it was looking like Australia ... but now maybe Pakistan. Hope so, just for the crowd atmosphere alone.
Yeah! Plenty of neutral support for Pakistan too, I expect. Real fairytale stuff, with everything that team's been through.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:02 pm I think Aussie are done.

Shoaib Ahktar will be loving a Pakistan win in the final over the evil and mean Kiwi's that disrespected his countrymen.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:03 pmYeah! The Mark Wood of Aussie batsmen. All hype, sometimes backs it up, never reliable enough.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:14 pmHe’s more No Show than Big Show these days for Straya.

NZers will remember Stoinis coming from nowhere a few years ago in a one-dayer and absolutely tonking us to almost snatch an impossible win for Australia.
He could get this one for Australia if he stays.

He was angry about NZ cancelling the bilateral series earlier this year and was pretty outspoken on social media after Pakistan won the match. Apparently it was what NZ deserved for their outrageous arrogance in cancelling the series.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:14 pmWhat did I miss? At least he’s not injured 3/4 of the time. 12 off 8. Closer than it should have been here.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:18 pmThe Mark Wood of Aussie batsmen. Anzac final. To be decided by an underarm delivery.

NZ have a real mental block against Straya. I would have much preferred Pakistan to get through.

And a scooped full toss for six. How critical was that dropped catch.

Noticing a few gleeful and gloating Indians in the crowd, but #sigh#, any seagulls out that way to provide a bit of colour to the final, even if white,
Will anybody care outside of a few hundred thousand NZers and probably even fewer Australians given that it's us?

Ah feck.
Not the result anyone wanted.
Still....at least New Zealand will be the most supported team in a World Cup final in living memory.

Just back in and glad I missed this. Like I said, this was always a 185 wicket.
Has been some discussion about Pak's tactics in this comp. Must be close to the lowest RR in the power play. FWIW, I'm fine with that approach. Given the ills of collapses of the past, building a base with wickets in hand for their big guns is the right thing for them. The problem here is that if one of your openers has a SR of 120 (7 an over = 140 = not enough) and then bats too long, you leave the guys after him in a hole.
One of the skills in this comp, where the wickets have not supported crash bang from the off, has been knowing when to get out and let the finishers in. What Rizwan did was the equivalent of a 4 x100 relay where he decided to hang around to the 300m mark but still expect the next 3 guys to take baton handovers.

Maybe you could have a country that encouraged people to actually stay there.
We try not to discriminate over here eh. You should try it
I drink and I forget things.
New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup final on Sunday against Australia, and the subsequent India tour with a broken right hand. Conway sustained the injury when he struck his bat just after being dismissed in the semi-final against England in Abu Dhabi. An X-ray on Thursday confirmed "a break to his right hand fifth Metacarpal".

Tbf our mental block against Australia is mostly when playing in Australia, the past 5 years our results in NZ and at neutral venues have been pretty good. Losing Conway will be a big blow to the balance of the team though.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:41 pmNZ have a real mental block against Straya. He played in the Bangladesh T20 series, but pretty sure he wasn't selected for the current squad.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 12:02 am So Seifert in then?
