Springbokke vs England is going to be a royal battle. Eddie Jones is already claiming our scalp. Nothing better then beating England. Anglo Boer war time.

Weakened as it is, you're going to have your way with our tight five at the set piece. From there you'll have a comfortable win where you rarely looked under threat.

Our faintest hope is that without Farrell around Marcus Smith might go full Quins and come up with some batshit running rugby magic that touches the rest of the team, but the backs probably aren't going to see the ball.

England forward pack looks vulnerable. I think they could be in for a long afternoon. Send them packing backwards and see how Smith responds.

I reckon they'll start with Marler, despite him being in isolation all this time. They need some serious grunt up front and I think he's the only one who can bring it.

I haven't look so forward to a match in a long time.

Although I agree with you, there is a lingering memory of England dismantling the All Blacks in 2019.

As usual I feel nauseous and pessimistic about the forthcoming test match. My dreams are wracked by Willie and Hersh doing silly things.

I'm still not sure whether Rassie is just a jammy king troll genius or is the real deal. He is very lucky to have one of the very best tight 5s of all time and quality in other key positions.

My lingering memory is of the week following that

Compared to that team, England will be without both Vunipolas and no Jamie George either. I don't think Curry is a natural 8 either. Hill will give away half a dozen penalties.

If Jones picks thst big #8, I think his name is Marchand? And Marler it will be a really good pack.

Smith at 10
Tuigalagi at 12
The new guy at 15

It could be a pretty dangerous team.

Did we not have more or less the same tight 5 players available with previous coaches?

Marchand is a 13. Jones' other options at 8 are Simmonds and Dombrandt. Both are excellent, so I'm not sure why he picks Curry at 8.

Backline could be very good though. I think England will be a more dangerous team with Tuilagi at 12 instead of Farrel.

Ginga
We feel that it’s the most important game of the season,” he explained.

“It has been a tough, long year, but there is a lot of energy in the camp to get a good result. It is an important game for us to keep our No 1 spot in the world rankings until the international season starts again next year.

“This is a game of a lot of importance and it’s great just to go three on the trot.”

Bit of a banana peel match for the Boks. We've traditionally dropped our test against England in our end of year tours.
Jones is also a sly old fox. When he takes the Boks seriously, he has always come up with creative ways to handle us.
They are not saying it out loud, but I'm sure he and a couple of players, want to look at this as a RWC final rematch and just put that disappointment behind them.

That being said, I'm cautiously optimistic. We are going to have to come to play though.
I don't think we are going to have the same dominance we enjoyed against Wales and Scotland at scrum time or at the lineout.
Itoje is going to be a massive nuisance like he was for the Lions. Neutralising him is going to have to be a priority.
Smith is the wildcard. He might manage to pull off some magic out wide; so the defense will need to keep him in check.
Freddie Steward was phenomenal under the high ball against Australia. If he manages a similar performance I don't think we are going to get a lot out of our main attacking weapon, which is a concern.

Hoping for a good match. Boks by 6.

Uruguay did lose against Italy A at the weekend, so it'd be quite impressive if the senior team managed to lose against them. Which is why it will probably happen :bimbo:

Only gave 1 away last week and probably had his best game in an England shirt. Will need his bulk to counter the Saffa behemoths!

Marchant is a an outside centre/wing who should certainly be starting ahead of Slade.

Marchand is one of France's many excellent hookers.

Eddie should absolutely go with Dombrandt, but he's been astonishingly reluctant to pick him in the past and has already publicly wafflled about Curry potentially being a world class 8, so he'll probably stick with the latter.

Our backline could well be one of the best we've put out in years, however it will probably only see the ball from kicks given the monstering your tight five is going to give ours.

Can't see how we win enough ball and don't get monstered up front so hard to see us being able to go the distance.

Going to Murrayfield with the lads from school as we first did 40 years ago. My 19 year old son is coming along too and has been doing some serious training during his first year at Uni. I have a feeling he will out pace us old boys in the drinking stakes. Still will be a superb day I hope.

Scotland by 23 points.

I would have preferred Elton and Frans to start, Handre and Willie on the bench.

On a sidenote, imagine injecting RG Snyman, PSDT, Marco van Staden and Cheslin Kolbe into that squad.

Springbok Team vs England:

15 – Willie le Roux (Toyota Verblitz) – 71 caps, 60 pts (12t)
14 – Jesse Kriel (Canon Eagles) – 50 caps, 60 pts (12t)
13 – Lukhanyo Am (Cell C Sharks) – 25 caps, 25 pts (5t)
12 – Damian de Allende (Munster) – 57 caps, 35 pts (7t)
11 – Makazole Mapimpi (Cell C Sharks) – 24 caps, 95 pts (19t)
10 – Handré Pollard (Montpellier) – 59 caps, 586 pts (6t, 83c, 126p, 4d)
9 – Cobus Reinach (Montpellier) – 20 caps, 40pts (8t)
8 – Duane Vermeulen (Ulster) – 60 caps, 15 pts (3t)
7 – Kwagga Smith (Yamaha Júbilo) – 18 caps, 5 pts (1t)
6 – Siya Kolisi (captain, Cell C Sharks) – 62 caps, 30 pts (6t)
5 – Lood de Jager (Sale Sharks) – 55 caps, 25 pts (5t)
4 – Eben Etzebeth (Toulon) – 96 caps, 15 pts (3t)
3 – Trevor Nyakane (Vodacom Bulls) – 53 caps, 5pts (1t)
2 – Bongi Mbonambi (Cell C Sharks) – 47 caps, 45 pts (9t)
1 – Ox Nché (Cell C Sharks) – 8 caps, 0pts

Replacements:
16 – Malcolm Marx (Kubota Spears) – 45 caps, 50 pts (10t)
17 – Steven Kitshoff (DHL Stormers) – 58 caps, 5pts (1t)
18 – Vincent Koch (Saracens) – 30 caps, 0 pts
19 – Franco Mostert (Honda Heat) – 50 caps, 5pts (1t)
20 – Jasper Wiese (Leicester Tigers) – 10 caps, 0 pts
21 – Herschel Jantjies (DHL Stormers) – 20 caps, 25 pts (5t)
22 – Elton Jantjies (NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes) – 43 caps, 323 pts (2t, 65c, 60p, 1d)
23 – Frans Steyn (Toyota Cheetahs) – 73 caps, 147pts (11t, 7c, 23p, 3d)

Pity they are persisting with Kriel on the wing and not getting Nkosi or Fassi in there.
Also think Elton Jantjies is a bit hard done by as he had a decent showing against Scotland.
Happy with the rest.

Think England are going to be up for it though. Hope our forwards don't go into the match overconfident.
I'm expecting Itoje to have a blinder with his back against the wall. He is just one of those players.
