Surely it's not in landlords interests to push for full rent?
They're looking to strengthen their negotiating position.

The wife walked past Birchalls earlier on and said that the usual suspects were supping pints, without meals and with fúck all social distancing.

Don't do pinting on a Tuesday evening. Have booked Smyths for Friday though.

A hell of a lot of landlords are leveraged quite highly.

Institutional landlords are usually unwilling to compromise unless they've no other choice.

A lot of the private landlords are leaving the commercial game over time.

Inside or out?

I've no major problem with groups outside. It's going on all over so why should pubs get flack?

But inside (and Birchalls is hardly well ventilated) is a major risk.

Unfortunately the big problem with pubs are the big numbers, even in a smaller pub, that disperse with no great ability to trace and the use of toilets, which is obviously more regularly used than anywhere else.

They will screw it up for the pubs waiting for 24th July. Very irresponsible behaviour by Birchalls

The food is not the reason I've booked. It is simply the means to anticipated creamy pints.

I’ve had this argument with a few rabid republicans up here, my point being that in any United ireland the tricolour will have to go for the connotations you have mentioned.

It's funny because the Tricolour is the flag of a state that Republicans refused to acknowledge for years. They should really have been using one of the older flags if they wanted to go that route. Goes to show what happens when you only half understand your history.

Ivan Yates stepping down from his show on Newstalk in July only decent slot on newstalk . I know he was tongue in cheek most of the time, but at least he had some sort of personality that questioned status quo. Hope they don't replace him with woke Cuddihy or Coleman.

Fellow Ranelagh citizen here. Devlin is dead as usual, McSorleys has yet to reopen which is odd considering they went all in on the delivery/takeaway service. Not many in the other pubs to be honest, Humphries had a few of the regulars when I stuck my nose in earlier.

Lads, two requests here

In the absence of any holidays abroad, I might be going down south with the missus and also (separately) a few mates for a couple of days. Do you have any recommendations? Both will obviously be very different. Ta

They were mourning Bobby Storey. The normal laws of space-time don't apply to SF gatherings.

Mitty - intersted to hear you know about Decawave, UWB and RF generally? It's not my background but know a bit about it through osmosis...

Yes - I think we'll all end up with wearable devices in lanyard format when we all get back to the offices ..... with alarms sounding if too many people are in a room, or if you're standing too close to someone for too long

Not a huge leap to see it in public locations also .... like pubs

I'm with mullet (and Holohan) re: the likelihood of us ending up back in a Leicester/Texas style lockdown soon enough .... the fact that one gobshite in Sligo can infect 14 family members is scary AF.

Cammy - the Devlin is pretty well placed to manage social distancing ... Birchalls has no chance

tongue in cheek TBF

I believe only about 50 of the number were due to FFA or other complications, so it appears that 6600 were what you might call 'elective'

whatever your viewpoint on the issue, the number itself represents a failing or series of failings .... across sex education and/or personal responsibility

pretty stark and sad number when compared to the Covid deaths that we're all fixated on
