This is what I understand.
None of them could get out in time so they are all in Hotels in the various cities.
Why not just play the games?
This is what I understand.
It was further reported that SA Rugby offered to let the visiting teams fly back after this weekend’s fixtures on a special charter flight, but that was turned down and the tourists chose to do their own thing, and the URC announced that the fixtures would be played at a later date.

This did not go down well with South African administrators who feel the visitors could have made a better effort to play the games, especially because the SA teams did some extremely hard yards in accepting four-match tours of Europe in September and October.
The feeling is that the matches could have been played and the visitors could still have made it home before the travel restriction deadline, but with there being no will, there was no way.
https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2021/112 ... d-19-case/Munster Rugby have confirmed a positive Covid-19 case in their squad, meaning they will not be departing South Africa today.
The province's game against the Bulls, due to take place yesterday, had been postponed earlier in the week after the discovery of the new variant of the illness called Omicron.
The squad had been undergoing PCR testing in their hotel in Cape Town when the case emerged.
It had been confirmed already that the travelling party would have to quarantine for 10 days upon their return to Ireland, but it's now unclear when they will make that journey.

Yep, positive tests in camp! Could bugger up their4 Euro matches weekend after next
Cardiff's hopes of flying out of South Africa on Sunday are over after two positive Covid-19 cases were confirmed in their squad.
The club confirmed one of the cases is suspected to be the Omicron variant that sparked travel restrictions on flights from South Africa to the UK.
A Cardiff statement said: "PCR tests undertaken last night have returned two positive results."
However, Welsh rivals Scarlets are on the flight both teams were due to take.
Irish side Munster also have a positive Covid case and, like Cardiff, must remain in isolation in South Africa.
Cardiff's playing and coaching staff have "returned to their hotel to isolate".
Their statement added: "Cardiff Rugby continue to work with the South African Rugby Union, the Welsh Rugby Union and public health authorities both at home and abroad to decide the next course of action.
The coach will add a few Bulls.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 4:29 pm 48 of the 50 Munster pod are cleared to return home, & start their 10 day quarantine; so at least they should be able to turn out a squad for their first ERC Game !

It's not ideal but probably the best thing to do in the situation. I actually reckon SA won't be on the red list for too long given that the new variant is fairly widespread anyway, so may as well clear some of the fixture congestion.
That's what I like about this competition. Learned a lot about the teams and enjoyed last weekend watching both matches and start to know some of the players. The Leinster vs Ulster game was excellent.robmatic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:22 pmIt's not ideal but probably the best thing to do in the situation. Also, as a NH punter, SA derbies are new to me so I might actually watch at least one of these.

Hopefully all our Springboks will be back otherwise it's advantage Bulls and Lions.
Bone Crusher? You mean the 38 year old man who is riddled with injury and can hardly run from here to there?OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 6:22 am Lions are different with Edwill, Kriel, Bone Crusher back.
Stormers have a light pack without Kitshoff and Malherbe.

The Lions are an average team with average players in almost every position.
Wise, except for his choice of team.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/59471515New Ulster recruit Duane Vermeulen is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
The World Cup-winning Springbok was set to link up with his new Ulster team-mates following South Africa's autumn Tests and the Barbarians' game with Samoa.
However, the Baa-Baas match was called off at the 11th hour following a positive case in the squad.
Number eight Vermeulen has since tested positive after arriving in Belfast.
