Wonder what his strategy is here - realistically everyone knows he lied to Parliament. Trying to work out his way through this, and whilst I wouldn't bet against him I can't see it

There are surely enough Lawyers in the Cabinet, to gently let him know that ignorance, (especially when it's feigned), is no excuse for breaking the law.

The real danger is he calls a confidence vote on himself; & forces them to support him. They could be stuck with him them for another year, like a millstone of shit around their necks.

Watching the replay now; & the evasions are appalling; & he must use the words; "with the Deepest Respect"; a half dozen times, when he wants to ignore the question; & we all know what it mean when a Politician uses those particular words.

His strategy is 'I've always got away with it before, the rules don't apply to me. Why should this be different?'

he genuinely xcan't understand why he should be taken to task for this or suffer in any way, because he has this conditioned belief that he should be allowed to get away with it.

Pathetic. No one told him it was a party. Did it not cross his mind to ask the question himself?

Ghanaian foreign office responding to "operation red meat" but call it "operation dead meat". Have to assume this is the best political trolling ever.

Not a bad move for him. Very trumpy because they live and die with him at that point, assuming he wins the confidence vote.

You've got to assume a mate would give him a job straight away so they shouldn't need to take the wallpaper.

Cummins is apparently going to have a meeting with Gray.
Now this is going to get very very spicy.

It may mean she will have to stop the process and contact the MetifDom spills the beans and suggests a criminal act took place and he is willing to swear as such on oath.

All these lightweights getting involved, like they're allowed an opinion...

Feeling kind of worried that we're in a lose-lose situation now.

If Boris somehow survives this stuff, then I'm not sure that even if he pushed the Queen off London Bridge on her Jubilee Day, he would go or be made to go. And if he stays then we're stuck with these awful people that form this incompetent cabinet for another 2 years. And at some point they'll install enough new millionaire lords to get their nasty agendas through the HOL.

But if he does go, apart from a few enjoyable days of finally seeing some sort of justice on the lying creep, and seeing all the cabinet members back-tracking, we may well end up with even worse creatures in charge. It's not like the Tory-party will transform or even slightly alter itself and its practices within a fortnight, and we're likely to get stuck with many of the same people in or near the top jobs (it'll all be Boris' fault, who lied to the 'poor innocent and hard-working cabinet members'.)

So whatever happens we're most likely to be stuck with incompetent people who have few morals and even less interest in genuinely governing for the good of the country.
Over the hills and far away........

I was going to say I'd expect the Met to contact Cummings themselves but it seems they've delegated their role to a third party.

Would you put pressure on the person who is the only reason you're in a job after repeated balls up?

Also Sue Gray works for the civil service so ultimately reports to Johnson. This enquiry isn't independent either.

I'd guess/hope that given that BJ is now in an even weaker position than when she was appointed she'll be happy to give it both barrels. Who knows, a new PM might appreciate her efforts. To go down the conspiracy route.

I'm kinda surprised that there's really no, new revelation going into this weeks PMQs; but I suppose it could be, because there's both enough to outrage the Public, already out there; & there's no point dropping anything else; until the report comes out; & then new revelations can be dropped; proving that #10; wasn't honest with Sue Gray; & instead hid damaging stuff from her.

The Bumblecunt is going to look even more useless, at the dispatch box tomorrow; as he'll have nothing beyond the lies of last week; & the braying from his own back benches will be even less convincing.

Was it Raab who reportedly mouthed, "Fuck off you wanker" to a Today programme host recently when the questions weren't going his way?

I get mixed up with them all, they are all a soup of banality, dangerous right enough, but the self-serving is tedious.
