Gleeson talking about the possibility of Tuilagi making an appearance in the back row on Saturday, what a fucking complete arse clown and an insult to all the back rowers in the wider squad who got sent back to their clubs.

Hard to argue with that side beyond Ewels. Exciting backline.

I'd argue that Nowell's made of glass and has done nothing in ages to demand a call-up, but I don't rule out that he might have a positive impact this time. Manu is a bit of a gamble still. Daly rewarded for not much.15. Freddie Steward

Blimey, I did not see that coming. Pretty happy with that.

Manu is always a gamble worth taking IMHO. Wales will set up differently with him in the side.

Woo Hooo Randall is starting
England team to face Wales: Steward; Malins, Slade, Tuilagi, Nowell; Smith, Randall; Genge, Cowan-Dickie, Sinckler, Ewels, Itoje, Lawes (Capt), Curry, Dombrandt.
Replacements: George, Marler, Stuart, Isiekwe, Simmonds, Youngs, Ford, Daly.
That's a real turn up for the books. Just a shame we don't have Launchbury in place of Ewels, and a bit more pace in the back three - other than that, it looks pretty good,

You could fairly quickly find yourselves with Daly on the wing and Ford at 12. Which would be funJM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:41 amI'd argue that Nowell's made of glass and has done nothing in ages to demand a call-up, but I don't rule out that he might have a positive impact this time. You've got to assume Launch is being kept back for the last two after a bit more game time.

Bench is little bit of a mixed bag. Don't think Youngs adds any value as a bench player, George and Marler are excellent options - Stuart and Isiekwe less so, Ford really only covers FH but is a very good option there, Daly is, at least, a good utilty player, Simmonds might be handy if the game opens up in the last 1/4. But there's little there that you'd expect to make a huge impact if we need to turn a score around.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:51 amPretty much my thoughts too.Ovals wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:46 am Woo Hooo Randall is starting

In which case he should have been released to Wasps last weekend !!Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:55 am You've got to assume Launch is being kept back for the last two after a bit more game time.

One assume they're talking about specific scenarios in which it allows them to put Manu up against halfbacks on the carry, in which case fine, although Sam Simmonds might want to cough noisily in the background. I cannot imagine they mean over multiphase more than a centre would normally end up as an auxiliary backrow. Probably something they are looking to shift the balance in a little with both Manu and Nowell in the backline, because we have struggled to support our own ballHal Jordan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:20 amAndy Farrell: "I've been there, trust me, you don't want that."ASMO wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:03 am https://www.rugbypass.com/news/nothings ... 0Ti4_8zC6o

It's a process.
First we had he'll only pick Youngs, then he picked Randall, then we had he'll revert to Youngs for Wales and he picked Randall, now we're getting the one bad game allowance before reverting to Youngs. It is just possible in how we're setting up to attack the transition he likes the extra breaking speed of Randall and Smith, we are now looking more than a little rugby league in trying to go up the middle

I wonder if (hope that) Jones is doing to Youngs what he has done to a couple of other first names on the team sheet. Move them or bench them to accommodate the new talent, then eventually drop them for good.
That would be nice.

It feels like this is the first time, since Jesus was in short pants, that England a starting a game, with a SH that can provide good, quick ball; & a FH that won't just kick it away aimlessly.
Wales could be in for another very painful weekend.

I’m just pleasantly surprised that Lawes was recalled instead of him finding a place for Daly in the BR.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:41 amI'd argue that Nowell's made of glass and has done nothing in ages to demand a call-up, but I don't rule out that he might have a positive impact this time. They call him Mr Glass.
I have no idea why he is even considered for a squad place, yes, powerful, yes, strikes fear blah blah blah, if you can't make it through one game in ten, you can't base a game plan on it.
Fucking hell
For avoidance of doubt, not laughing at Tuilagi the poor bastard
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
FFS - Well, at least it didn't happen 30 secs into the match - which would have been even worse.
Shame Eddie didn't keep Barbeary in the squad - we could do with him now. Need to find some 'go forward; from somewhere.

Almost as if the poor fucker should be given some time playing club rugby to let his body see if it's still up to it before being rushed back into an international set up whose training includes being hit with fucking hammers.
God I hate Eddie Jones.
