PR looks like it has finally kicked the bucket

Same. PR is like a cruel mistress. I've kept going back over the years, despite her treating me like shit. Despite her taunts, her tantrums and her emotional abuse. I've kept going back, and in doing so I've enabled her poor behaviour. Nay I've encouraged it. Well, I've finally cut her off.

Never say never but when you're busy, it's much easier to use a forum that has a modern interface and can be used on a mobile.

The side bar ads on PR were the last straw for me.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 11:43 pm Never say never but when you're busy, it's much easier to use a forum that has a modern interface and can be used on a mobile.
It was already a pain in the hole, & had so many whiteouts, & then the pricks load up more shite, to make it even slower

It's going for more comebacks than Status Quo
Reports of its demise would seem to be premature.

There is something wrong with access from a mobile - really slow load times

I much prefer the functionality of this forum. And I like the fact that ASMO doesn't act like he's doing us a favour by keeping the forum going. But it can be very quiet, so I think I will bounce between the two for a while. There are some good threads going on here though and I will definitely post here more than I did previously.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 12:25 amOh dear.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 11:39 pmSame. Time-wise, we're always on the graveyard shift (PR or NPR): I tend to log in during work hours time which means it's Aus and NZ based posters only.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:32 amI much prefer the functionality of this forum. Have logged in a few times after coming in from a night out (with some interesting results) and there's always far more people when it's good for GMT. I have to wait until the evening to see anyone else on the Scottish Rugby thread
And on the 7th day, the Lord said "Let there be Finn Russell".
PR has been the source of great fun and entertainment for me for at least a decade. I see no reason that should stop. I’d been more of a lurker on PR for a few years as I’d become too busy at work to post much.
ASMO’s setting up of this “lifeboat” coincided with a summer break that was always going to be quiet for me. I thought I’d post here a bit to help things get up and running. I found, as AC said, this is such an easy, fun place to post, quiet as it is through the Eastern Hemisphere daytime.
Going forward, I imagine I’ll post here when I can and lurk at PR enjoying the shitfights, banter and sense of history and tradition.
I don’t see NPR as a “lifeboat” any more. For one thing, Jake has cried wolf one time too many. NPR is, in itself, a fun posting experience I’ll look to keep enjoying.
For me, the boreds compliment each other. I know that won’t be everyone’s experience.
Long live King Asmo.

Good post. This place has a nice genteel feel to it. PR is like a big bustling city whereas this place is the countryside, slower pace of life, fresh air and some open spaces.FujiKiwi wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 3:05 am PR has been the source of great fun and entertainment for me for at least a decade. I find there are fewer UK liars on this site trying to say the Premiership is the bastion of quality rugby.
A refreshing change of pace to see more forward-thinking SH types on this forum.
Except of course, for those fucking Saffers.

Your timing is hilarious. You wait a week and a half to come in here crowing about PR not dying and choose the day when it shuts down again. 24 hours according to Forum Fucker Jake.

Awe, I was hoping it was a super injunction after I posted a picture of Boris and his new pomp.
24-48 hours before they realise it's FUBAR and roll it back, again.

“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true.”
"migrating the forum software"
I infer that means the new platform Jake identified before - where an article forms the first post in a topic, and with sub-forums and the like.
If you want to copy any of your clever posts for your archives, I suggest you go and find them now.

What is the new platform they are using? Is it just a standard message board platform from this century or something completely different?
Last I heard it was Xenforo which is more aimed at monetising traffic and content.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 12:05 pm What is the new platform they are using? Is it just a standard message board platform from this century or something completely different?
Ehhh that's a stretch. I'm on a couple of Xenforo forums and they're significantly better than phpBB without any monetisation features being used. Xenforo's a good bit of software and will improve the board (which isn't hard, it's a dinosaur)ASMO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 1:50 pmLast I heard it was Xenforo which is more aimed at monetising traffic and content.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 12:05 pm What is the new platform they are using?
