There are 7 still playing tests. Can't be kak of they still play test cricket since January 2020JM2K6 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 2:44 pm7?!OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 11:26 am6 players add Broad and its 7.
We are England's bitches in tests. Haven't won a test series since 19 voertsek.
Root. Stokes. Maybe Bairstow (who is playing well right now, but averages mid-30s). Anderson. Broad. Who else is class?
I don't know what you mean. Anderson and Broad are absolute class, no doubt. I am assuming they'll play against SA.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 3:13 pmThere are 7 still playing tests. That leaves us picking 9 from:
Lees (average 4), Crawley (avg 27), Root (49), Lawrence (26), Stokes (36 bat / 32 ball), Bairstow (35 but in form), Foakes (32), Woakes (27 bat / 30 ball), Overton (33 ball), Wood (31 ball), Leach (32 ball)
Those numbers do not scream class for the majority of players, and instead scream "not cut out for Test cricket" for a chunk of them.

Class enough to beat SA at home.

This is pretty funny, Oom.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 3:39 pmCrawley, Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Woakes, Wood, Broad
Crawley is the definition of form, not class. Form meant he scored a big innings. Class means he averages 27 in Test cricket
Wood averages 40 with the ball in England.
Bairstow averages 34 with the bat in 44 matches in England.
Very strange definition of class!

Wait till July, then they hit form again.
So it's form and not class then? Make your mind up.
England might beat SA, but all that says is SA are also bad. Both sides lack class.

Local cricket news are that Boland is the T20 champs, Titans 4 days and the One dayers start on Friday. Most Proteas will play for their provinces.

Windies lead by 28 with 2 wickets standing. Bonner with a ton. England need to roll him over.

That's my wicket. Lead 68 , only one left. England surely can build a nice lead or will they bat for survival?

Why are you wasting your time with this moron? He has just made up his mind, he does not need facts. If you look at all his posts it is just drivel without substance
We might lack a few star players, but Smith, Boucher, Elgar and Bavuma have at least moulded us into a unit that won't back down and will fight for everything.
That's all we can ask for.

Boucher and Smith will have to survive Nippers pelle in May.handyman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 7:13 amWe might lack a few star players, but Smith, Boucher, Elgar and Bavuma have at least moulded us into a unit that won't back down and will fight for everything.

Ultimately what we need also. We're stuck with quite a few players who don't look up to it and aren't willing to fight...handyman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 7:13 amWe might lack a few star players, but Smith, Boucher, Elgar and Bavuma have at least moulded us into a unit that won't back down and will fight for everything.

Watching England against West Indies, I think our bowlers are better. England have the better batting.
As shown by... West Indies scoring more runs than England? South Africa beating NZ in NZ? South Africa having higher batting averages? confused by this a littleOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:18 am Watching England against West Indies, I think our bowlers are better. No not averages and stats.
We needed a lh quick like Jansen to bring variation with Rabada and Nortje. Also think Maharaj is a good spinner.
The low scoring tests vs India & Black Caps haven't convince me on our batting.

Well that was delightfully expected.
64 ahead - no real demons in the pitch - 6 sessions remaining......this has draw written all over it.

These two getting a hurry on.
With Crawley and Root there I reckon England might fancy getting a 200 - 250 odd lead by the end of the day and maybe have 2 and half - 3 sessions at WI?
Poised nicely.
