Do you think there is a favoring of the Stormers by match officials....I keep thinking how we constantly get screwed by Marius against you lot ( what are the chances that he always officiates against the Stormers ) and now the NH teams are also getting done in by the TMO

it wasn't the TMO making the call boetie
https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/watch-offi ... d-try-1za/
It was

I watched the whole sad episode and to me it looked like the TMO showed him all the angles and gave his opinion but the ref eventually made the call.

BTW - it was try imo

The problem was that the Ref clearly couldn't see the replays clearly enough, as he continually had to check what he was seeing, & effectively outsourced the decision to the TMO, which is completely unacceptable. The URC needs to ensure the ref can always see the replays properly, & not just on the stadium screen

bottom line - ball did not travel forward and player fell on the ball = try

Well I am glad they are taking a hard line against this type of behavior. They need to look deeply into the officials and stop appointing homer officials. By the same token up north they need to look at their structures too. Let's make it a fair contest.

I think the biggest issue for SA teams up North, is a different interpretation, or different priorities, for the Refs.

I think that the differences will work themselves out, as officials work together, & agree a common approach, so it's less jarring for the players.

Apart from few guys very close to their pensions (no current boks...yet) and a couple of Blitzboks I am not so sure how they came to that conclusion, the Dragons most likely have more internationals than the Bulls
You'll get used to Welsh fantasy reporting after a couple of years. They're on a completely different planet, detached from any form of reality.

South African-born prop WP Nel is one of four Scotland internationals set to join Edinburgh as they gear for Saturday’s United Rugby Championship clash against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Former Cheetahs stalwart Nel, along with lock Grant Gilchrist, hooker Stuart McInally and wing Darcy Graham, have joined the Scottish outfit's touring squad in South Africa.

Oom, as a rugby "kenner": what are your thoughts on why players, who never feature at the $harks, seem to blossom once they have left.

Just off the top of my head I think of Evan Roos and Madosh Tambwe.
They were nothing players at the $harks, left them and suddenly Roos is outplaying Duanne Vermeulan and Tambwe is being spoken of as a near future Bok.

You can add Libbok.

Coaching and gameplan.

They have the best back three plus Am. $hark$ kapater (no balls). Bosch and all those 9s kick all their balls away.

Slapping the ball out of the hand of a person going for a try. Remember when a Stormers player once kicked the ball out of the hand of a player dotting down. Same offense.
But definitely a try....they got this one wrong and Ulster can be very aggrieved
Agreed. Decision reviewed in detail here.

Never liked the general assumption that any ball knocked from hands is an automatic knock on from the carrier.

In real time and without a TMO, it's fair enough but here, there's really no excuse.

I forgot about Libbok. Manie is playing very well at the Stormers.

One would think that with all their money the $harks could employ a decent coach. Pieter De Villiers, Robbie Fleck, Naka Drotske could all do well in Deben.

Yeah Libbok is a decent player, he was pretty good at the Bulls too, but he was never going to get enough playtime with Pollard being ahead of him, at that time, so I fully understood the reason he left at the time, good to see him starting to get into his stride again. I hope the Bulls can find another flyhalf in the off season, Chris Smith a flyhalf that you can expect to do the basics well, but he does not have that x factor that can make full use of the guys outside him, he also lacks a bit of pace at the times when he does break the line, unless he is close to the line where he can bulldoze through defenders.

You will get used to WP officials. That is officials that originate from WP. Wait till you get to meet Marius. He only sees the opposition and never blows against the Stormers. Unless it's blatant. Welcome to our world. I am very glad Tappe is sanctioning this dumbass that cost Ulster the game. Just a pity it doesn't change the result

Looking at Friday nights game between the $harks and the Dragons.
The Dragons are yet to win a game this season, so it should be an easy victory for the Springbok laden $harks along with their Argentinian and Australian International Super stars.

But, there is a 60% chance of rain with 87% humidity.....................................................................does this even out the odds? Does the warm rain and hot, humid, muggy conditions favor the Welsh? Are these the conditions that the Dragons are used to training and playing in Newport and Gwent?
