The left say it is another example of Trump's anti immigrant stance since such a massive increase will dissuade many people from applying to become citizens.

It was over AU$2500 for Residency when I did mine and roughly the same for Citizenship.
I've heard it's at least double now.
It is hard but if you qualify, straightforward.

If the convention was still open there'd be delegates pushing their angle, but as is it's about introducing Biden to the American voters as a presidential candidate. Right now America doesn't like Trump, and people think Biden is okay, it just doesn't seem to have occurred to a lot of people voting Biden is an especially useful thing to do.Sinkers wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 4:30 am So what can we expect from the convention this week.
I guess there’s a priority to show that Biden has all his faculties and plenty of energy. And that Harris is all lined up after criticizing him in the primaries. United front from across the party in general I suppose
What else? Do they actually talk policy at these things?
So one assumes they'll not talk much about Trump, or at least not directly. That Biden will talk in terms of values, principally normalcy and decency, and he might introduce some of his policies thrashed out with Bernie but he's not going to jump up and down about a move to the left.
The bar is low for Joe, nobody on the Democratic side seems a big fan, and Trump refers to him as Sleepy Joe or senile, so if Biden manages to trip over said low bar he'll pretty much be judged to have cleared the hurdle.
It's around £3000 in the UK these days. Fail the English language exam and add another £750 for a re-take.mat the expat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 6:36 am It was over AU$2500 for Residency when I did mine and roughly the same for Citizenship.

While Biden refuses to take any probing questions (and Harris too since her appointment), Trump has endured four years of literally hundreds of hostile questions from the press.
Each interrogator aches to be the one that nails the prez; the one to be the exalted hero/heroine of the Left.
So it was with the question to him about Harris’ non-eligibility, referred to above by half a dozen on here. The actuality is that in his answer Trump made it clear that he did not know if that was the case, then he continued by stating that he would be surprised if it was true as “the Democrats would have checked that out.”
Of course that end-clarification by the president got dropped in the MSM coverage: the typical “Let’s frame a hit on Trump by withholding his full statement because we know a whole bunch of utter fcekwits out there will not only swallow this nonsense but will then regurgitate it as fact on forums”, and, look-see, they did indeed.
And this MSM deceit works every time; every single freeking time; 4 years straight, dozens of fake anti-Trump 'bombshells', and yet the same useful idiot stooges still can’t work out that they are being played.
Apparently the same fellas are currently chaining themselves to mailboxes
to try to ensure that "Joe Biden's husband" gets the presidency. Ha ha, just heard that latest Bidentia blooper this very moment on the DNC live broadcast. I will swear he said Joe, not Jill.

I find it intriguing that 100% of your posts on the NPR Rugby forum have been made on this thread, praising Donald Trump. Anyone would think you're not a genuine Rugby fan, and more of a troll?convoluted wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:10 am While Biden refuses to take any probing questions (and Harris too since her appointment), Trump has endured four years of literally hundreds of hostile questions from the press.

To be fair, there are loads of posters who never post about rugby, too exercised by the US Politics and Brexit threads usually.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:49 amI find it intriguing that 100% of your posts on the NPR Rugby forum have been made on this thread, praising Donald Trump. I should change my wording to "c90% of posts" as I couldn't possibly have read everything they posted.
I don't want to be going down the road of naming these people as I don't think it's particularly high-minded and, in any case, I'm sure someone would be able to pull up an example where they posted regularly about rugby in the past. I only joined the old board in summer 2018 so I didn't know the PR world before tedious obsessions with all things Brexit, Trump, Culture Wars etc would have come to the fore (given that they're fairly recent phenomena).
My point on the above being, mass non-rugby posters are hardly without precedence.

I never once saw a poster on PR who had never made a single post about Rugby. The poster I quoted above has made 100% of his posts on this Trump thread. With respect, I don't think it's normal to join a Rugby thread simply to troll moderates/liberals on a political thread.Caley_Red wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 8:28 amI should change my wording to "c90% of posts" as I couldn't possibly have read everything they posted.

If he did not "know" Bannon, then that does not exactly throw a good light on the situation.

Trump would disavow his own children (maybe one exception) to try and distance himself from trouble, like Paulie to Henry in Goodfellas.

The number of people Trump has emlpoyed and been photographedor recorded interacting with, yet whom he apparently doesn't know can either be taken as evidence that he's a compulsive liar or cognitively unfit for office..OverThere wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 4:05 pmTrump did though employ him as "one of the best people".Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 2:37 pm In fairness, Trump barely knew the guy, although no doubt he wishes him well.

Whilst that twitter interaction is amusing, Trump's deliberate and targeted attacks on the American electoral and voting system, are extremely worrying. I have never before seen an American President behave in such away. America's democracy is at risk. Trump supporters are so blinded by partisan loyalty and ideology that they seem happy for their President to attack their structures of democracy on a daily basis.
One of the things I've wondered of late is whether twitter itself deserves its fair share of criticism for the Trump presidency. In other words does Trump even get elected without a twitter account?
It has provided the celebrities of the world a huge platform for sharing their unfiltered opinions to an audience of millions of followers. Whereas in generations past a celebrity might give an interview every couple of years to coincide with a new album or film release nowadays celebrities can air their opinions 24/7 on social media.

Unless they pull back, this is going to go the way of the Spanish civil war. More numerous liberals are going to be defeated by fanatical alt-rightists who are armed to the teeth. State (and army) likely to be crippled by the political deadlock.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 2:55 am Whilst that twitter interaction is amusing, Trump's deliberate and targeted attacks on the American electoral and voting system, are extremely worrying. He's also spitting his dummy, advocating a boycott against Goodyear (an American, America based manufacturer employing thousands) because they won't allow employees to wear MAGA gear (which is part of a wider ban on political items of clothing).

It's not just they're not allowing MAGA, it's that they are allowing BLM. Still it's odd that he'd attack a big employer in a swing state, it's already being run against him in attack ads. While there is certainly a political and organisational element to BLM, the specific words black lives matter and being anti-racist really shouldn't be classified as a political stance.Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 6:00 pmIt's not just they're not allowing MAGA, it's that they are allowing BLM. But, yes, it never ceases to astound me how thin his skin is and how easily provoked he is; it ought to irreovocably damage him and yet Channel 4 were talking to a lifelong democrat (so he claimed) who voted Trump in 2016 and now can't envision voting for anyone else ever, so what the fuck do any of us know.

Take a look at what Bimbo is doing on the Covid thread and multiply it exponentially.
It doesn't take many trolls to completely sabotage essential public information.

If a "Democrat" voted for Trump; they clearly missed the Parties philosophy for their entire lives, & just voted for the orange sex offender, because they hated Hillary. Now they're in too deep, & won't admit what a horrible mistake they've made.

That did cross my mind. He kept insisting they'd gone too far to the left and didn't believe they'd ever return back. It is a bit like, they did? How far to the right are you that this fairly centrist program from Biden seems far left? Why were you voting for them in the past instead of the Republicans?fishfoodie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 10:03 pmI'm always a bit suspicious of these characters.
