England's opening bowlers have played 34 years of test cricket between them. For pace bowlers that's amazing! A cricketing discipline that has broken many young players in their early twenties. A combination of genetics and good bowling mechanics.
That's awful. Sincerely hope he recovers quicklyFalseBayFC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 12:45 pmAmazing reaction from the local community in UK after 19 year old SA cricketer was assaulted outside a pub in Bristol. He's in an induced coma but there are positive signs that he is doing better. Went to Maritzburg College and comes from a very humble background in Umlazi Township.SaintK wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 12:24 pm I missed this. Nasty bang to the head!https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/61673902England spinner Jack Leach has been withdrawn from the first Test against New Zealand at Lord's after suffering symptoms of concussion.
The 30-year-old took a heavy fall while chasing a ball to the boundary in the sixth over of the first day.
Lancashire leg-spinner Matt Parkinson has been called up as the replacement and will make his Test debut.

Seems like the NZ brains trust didn't do much analysis on Potts.
Oh well....I guess we now treat this test as a third warm up and concentrate on the 2nd and 3rd?

Bat first at Lords in opening Test of the Summer as tourists with pretty much no cricket behind you in the conditions: great captaincy.
I assume Parkinson is not allowed to bat or bowl?

Concussion sub can play a full part.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 2:46 pm Bat first at Lords in opening Test of the Summer as tourists with pretty much no cricket behind you in the conditions: great captaincy.

Anyone else get proper annoyed by Lees batting on 5th stump to the right handers? Was sweet karma when he missed the straight one

Bizarre day.
- NZ opting to bat first was an eye opener for me. And they paid for it as Eng bowled (exploiting the movement to the full) and caught as well as, well, who knows?!
- Broad and Grumpy bowled good, full lengths: which is hilarious since Root could not get them to do so under his captaincy.
- Eng then come in under far better conditions and it showed: right up to the point they collapsed in a catalogue of awful shots. Again.
NZ probably just favourites now.

Ah man.....Williamson gone again playing loose. Not sure where his head is at - but it's not on his batting.
NZ need to get a minimum 200 lead.....I don't think we'll run through England in quite the same manner2 innings in a row.
Where are the runs going to come from?

Why?
I drink and I forget things.
Are the missing words "we would struggle to pick a Test attack otherwise"?Enzedder wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 10:45 pmThis now ranks as one of those questions whos answer is "Because"Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:00 am James Anderson & Stuart Broad recalled by England for New Zealand Tests

I don't think one partnership changes old man Jimmy getting 4-66 in the first innings at Lord's
