80s music
Genuinely made snot come out my nose
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
I like a lot of that stuff too, slick. Even opera. Maybe you’re a little older than I, and can actually remember the era. But I was only 13 by the end of the 80s and I have no baggage from the era. 90s really exploded my mind as did getting heavily into Vietnam era 60s and Beatles/Stones prior.
But while there are plenty of true quality bands and songs, I also find the 80s quite fun to go back and check out. 90s were more serious and depressing, yet quality music. There was still plenty of innocence in the 80s.
I also find some of the softer yacht rock tunes equal parts stimulating yet cringey. They’re fun.
Warren G & Nate Dogg were onto an absolute winner sampling this.

Mr Bungle, guessing you are only 3/4 years younger than me.
I don’t think I was really into any music until the early 90’s so maybe that explains it a bit.
Except Blues, which was my first love - Muddy Waters, Little Richard, Bessie Smith etc - was really into that at about 15/16

A few decent tunes mentioned in the fred, but generally Slick I feel your pain.Slick wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 8:36 pmDylan, Stones, a lot of the 60’s and 70’s stuff. A lot of the early 90’s like Happy Monday’s, Stone Roses. Oasis, Blue back in the day. Had a great time with Groove Armada, Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack. Love a bit of Opera as well these days.
Like folky type stuff, Rufus Wainwright, Conor Oberst.
I’m not very refined as you might have guessed
Honestly though, if something comes on the radio that I identify as being 80’s it genuinely depresses me and I switch off. Realise this is an extreme reaction and of course the whole decade wasn’t shite - being a little tongue in cheeks
I used to work in that pub - The Star Tavern in St Johns Wood.

Disintigration is one of the finest songs of all time
The entire Doolittle album is fantastic
I find Amethyst's comment a ringing endorsement

I tried to listen to one of their other songs just to check if it's any better. The girl in the band only sang/called the expression "ooh" every ten seconds or so. Doolittle indeed.Big Nipper wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 7:28 am Disintigration is one of the finest songs of all time

60's was the best era for music. Almost everything (apart from the odd highlight) from say 1995 has generally been kak. Everything has basically gone downhill since the hip hop/rap kak.
