To be fair, Foster named Cane skipper just before the Covid lockdowns started in 2020. At that stage, nobody knew that the first test of the year wouldn't be until October. And by general consensus, Cane was our best performing All Black that year - he really led from the front. Then he missed most of last year through injury. I know he probably won't survive as captain with Foster on the way out, but he was dealt a really rough hand at the worst possible moment in his career.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 1:25 am We keep telling you guys we have a dumb coach.
Poor selections and poor tactics. No ideas.
He named Sam Cane his captain months out from the first test he coached, committing himself to a guy who is fading fast as a player and never really inspired as a captain.

Looks like a cracking afternoon up on the Reef. Nice hard field for our scrums and also for a Black backline that could cut us up if they click. I think this is going to be a close affair. Too close to pick, a 3 point win by one of them.

More Gwijo singing . Siya Kolisi describes it as songs that are sung when Xhosa people sing to bring themselves comfort in tough times and also to celebrate. Am, Kolisi and Mbonambi and Mapimpi are Xhosa heritage. Joseph Dweba is of Zulu heritage and Ox Nche is Tswana. They also have similar singing traditions and will quite easily join in the Gwijo. Trevor Nyakane is from Bushbuckridge and could be from Shangaan, Zulu, Sotho heritage. NOot sure which.

Most of the South African soccer teams sing it before a game as well, a lot of times doing it while they walk down the tunnel to the pitch, even Bafana Bafana do it at times. I love the tradition. Would even be nice if the bok players do something similar but might be tough for the afrikaner boysFalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 11:34 am More Gwijo singing . Terrible discipline by the ABs. If you take the scrum, you have to keep your composure.

10 minutes, and ABs showing so much spirit and bite.
What a difference keeping possession makes.
Not seen one aimless kick yet.
