Got the W
Happy with that
Fassi simply sensational. Going to be the best fullback in the world. Tore the Stormers to pieces.
Very good game from Bosch. Finding his mojo again.
Judging from that performance I reckon the Sharks have " hopefully " abandoned the kick and hope.
I am just a little worried that Jayden is going to be morphed into a Rassnabber clone and spoil this new look and feel, but Grant is not a bad player to step in.

The Stormers and Bulls will be without their Boks. Good time to play them.

With the IRFU pulling the strings, I'm not sure, if even our few Internationals will be allowed to travel, in a RWC year.
Last year, our season was done by Christmas; because we coughed up too many points, in games we should have won, or losses we could have scraped a losing BP in. The URC is so competitive, that the difference between Champions, & Challenge Euro qualification, usually comes down to BPs.
Maybe having such a lopsided fixture list means we can recover in the 2nd half of the season; but I'd rather have some points in the bag, than rely on having softer fixtures, & players fit, & available in the New Year.
Oh well; I suppose it is what it is

I forgot about the Emerging Irish tour in SA until 21 Oct. You'll probably lose young ones aswell for first 7 rounds.
May help Connacht against the other 3 Irish teams.

Good news for the Sharks , Stormers and Bulls
Stormers will have Roos, Fourie Moerat, H Jantjes Dweba back next week“It’s great for us that the URC is starting again. Players who haven’t played a lot of game minutes for us, after the Rugby Championship, will fall straight in with their clubs, like our international players, who will be released to their clubs,” said Nienaber.
“Their management will happen by their respective clubs and how they see those players performing and when.
“In the South African context, there is good communication between our perfomance staff and the franchises’ performance staff. For guys with low game minutes, it would be great if they can get some more minutes under the belt before we go on the end-of-year tour.”
Wonder if we'll see any upsets due to the disrupted pre-season games last weekend. Glasgow will definitely be undercooked.

Reasonably happy with that - was more hoping we'd see more of the younger academy players and fewer of the actual established URC grade, but don't think the provinces will be too put out by those call ups. Munster's backrow maybe a bit damaged with both Kendellan and Hodnett going, but apart form that they should be well able to manage the losses.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 3:34 pm Decent side for Emerging Ireland.

Had a go at picking a Sharks team for first game. Boks not included. Hopefully we get them in the second part of the season. They're in brackets. Still got shitty locks besides Eben. Decent scrum and Carlu Sadie is a great addition to the team here.

I think this is almost everything that is wrong with SA Rugby.
A proper journeyman is selected ahead of a very talented young flyhalf.
He and Chiat should have been given much more exposure a year or 2 ago already.
If you are good enough, you are old enough.
This is not the official team selection.

That's just something I cobbled together. But yes I agree. I just thought a steady hand would be nice to open the season with. Pretty sure Poes Everitt is going to persist with Curwin though. I agree with your sentiments about Boeta and Chait. I'd like to see the Sharks back Boeta this season as our flyhalf of choice.

Interesting backline for the Bulls with Simelane at fullback, Hendricks on the wing and Kriel, at inside centre. I see Walt Steenkamp still in the team. I thought he was going to Bath. He impressed me last season and wouldn't let a Bok team down if we ever had a lock crisis.
Benetton tend to do well against the Scottish teams at home so potentially a bit of a banana skin for Franco Smith's first game as Glasgow coach. However, Benetton seem to be missing a few decent players and that Glasgow bench isOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 4:52 pm FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
