I think Friday evening rugby works for a lot of people. You can go for some food, or a jar after work, & then walk to the game, or go home, & bring the family., & have a night out.
If the game is on Saturday, a lot of families will be bringing the kids to their own sports, or whatever, & the day is dead loss.

Glasgow look unbeatable at home. Sure Franco Smith will enjoy this.

Must say I really enjoy the URC. Glad we made the move.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 7:37 pmI think Friday evening rugby works for a lot of people. You can go for some food, or a jar after work, & then walk to the game, or go home, & bring the family., & have a night out.

Glasgow are definitely a Friday evening club. They would usually sell out the ground actually but the fans are a bit disgruntled after the performances of the last couple of seasons.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 7:37 pmI think Friday evening rugby works for a lot of people. Right decision, wrong timing.
Chuffed to have Glasgow playing the Glasgow way on a Friday - as it should be, but I was genuinely worried we wouldn't see it any time soon.

This is why I think the match day/night experience, & having a right-sized ground is important.robmatic wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 7:42 pmGlasgow are definitely a Friday evening club. The atmosphere tonight was rocking, & the fans were really enjoying it, & it came thru on the TV, & now the kids that were there tonight will be in their Dads ear in a few weeks time, asking when they can go again, & hopefully Mammy was able to enjoy the night too, so she's along for the ride, & maybe they attend enough games, that they see that getting a season ticket saves them some money, & they bring along their kids best friend, & they have a fun, on it goes ....
I think both Scottish teams are in much better stadiums, & now they just need to focus on job number one, & deliver performances on the pitch
Agree with both.clydecloggie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 8:47 pmRight decision, wrong timing.

Must admit I looked at that Glasgow backline at the start and didn’t really see where it was going to come from, but some big performances across the board really. They looked pissed off and that pack can do some damage when it’s in the mood

Great result in the end for the $harks but came quite close to losing it. They must have thought it was in the bag by half time and we lost all intent. But thankfully some silly and unnecessary indiscipline from Zebre cost them the match in the end.
Rohan played very well, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. I liked his rush defence, and also a few nice runs and passes. Great signing.
Also very impressed with Mchunu, I love the idea of a mobile prop who helps around the field.
With Venter and Richardson on the field I was expecting more turnovers, but I can't remember seeing many.

Was the first time in a couple of season at Scotstoun that I've come away from the ground thinking that was good entertainment and almost value for money (prices at Scotstoun are honking).
Tuipoluto - had his best game since he arrived in the UK (including his Scotland appearances).
Richie Gray finally realised he gets paid to use other his talents other than line out steals and actually made a few metres and hit folk hard.
Wee George has had a tough couple of years, hopefully we have seen his passion reignite.
Manjezi was rubbish last week maybe a bit of shell shock after arriving but also stepped up.
Continued decent performances from Zander Fag and Cummings. Cancelliere looked good as did Forbes, it just clicked last night. Hope it wasn't a flash in the pan.

I was very disappointed in Dylan. Since his international aspirations he has regressed. Some quality still to come tho. Thought Boeta was overthinking things. Obviously putting a lot of pressure on himself. Our defense out wide is a huge concern.assfly wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:12 am Great result in the end for the $harks but came quite close to losing it. Just arrived at De Akker pub for a pre-game beer and steak. I'll be watching the Stormers/Connacht at the stadium, then Boks/Argies on the big screen and then Falsebay RFC/Durbell club final also at the stadium. I'll be lucky to still be alive if we win all three.
