Aye. It speaks well of you that you immediately think she's suffering from something, don't get me wrong. I just don't like jumping to conclusions and giving her the benefit of the doubt on the back of her behaving slightly more oddly than normal, all in order to feel sympathy for someone who is far more of an "enemy of the people" ((c) the Daily Mail) than any of our justices...

People said Putin was acting like he had health problems last time they saw him on TV, no sympathy required there! :-)

I tend to agree with you re not stooping to their levels of nastiness - but it's bloody hard to feel much sympathy for her and the likes of Rees Mogg - and it's not as if they will ever be destitute as a resut of their failures - others may well be though !

I would also add that going "good, fuck her" over her apparent misery is by no means comparable with the nastiness of a far-right government.

Stooping to their level would be, I dunno, campaigning to throw all Tory MPs and their voters into the sea.

Petitions.org wouldn't let me :(

Sounds like the Triple Lock on pensions is going to be scrapped - it will be very unpopular but I guess they are so unpopular now that they feel they might as well get all the crap done asap,

A little generous for doing SFA, & claiming it was for the public.

I'd put that in maybe week two's work for Labours cuts, to derail the Tory Gravy train. Once they've trebbled the size of the Fraud dept investigating the PPE & other frauds, & generally made the risk/reward proposition for defrauding the public purse untenable.

Look, it's easy to show humanity when faced with a deserving case, even if the likes of Truss, Braverman, Ree-Mogg don't show it under any circumstances, I genuinely think we have to be better than them, it's far less easy to show a bit of kindness to someone who doesn't deserve it, but it we do so we lift the tone of the whole debate.

Would now be a good time to remind the British Public that the OBR forecast that Brexit cost the UK £100 Billion, about £40 Billion in taxes, which would now be very useful, but instead people will be cold, hungry, & waiting for health treatments this winter, & for quite a few to come !

TBF I don't think it was £100bn in one year - so you wouldn't exactly be comparing apples with apples. The principle is sound though.

What gave you the impression that I'm not that angry at the Tories and what they've done to the country over the past 12 years?

On one level I felt a bit sorry for someone who is totally out of their depth, has been publicly humiliated across the country and by the President of the United States Internationally, I had a twinge of sympathy because she looked like she was having nervous breakdown.

I don't know why people think this is some kind of endorsement of what they've done since 2010 and in the last few years, months and weeks in particular.

Already 2 Tory MPs publicly announcing that they would vote against ditching the triple lock. She's also been making promises to the ERG about Defence spending - lots of budget saving avenues being stomped down.

The OBR website is a bit a maze, but I was reminded of the figure today watching this recent FT video, the text is in the background at this timestamp.

Found the report, the March 2020 EFO https://obr.uk/docs/EFO_March-2020_Accessible-1.pdf

The main point is the permanent 4% hit to GDP

Drakeford nails it. If Truss has mental health issues that cpompromise her ability to run the country she must resign.

I added the link to the previous post, it makes sense that the OBR had to continually update their outlook, as they could only definitively assess the outcome, once negotations had concluded, & they could actually see what the final deal was.

So are we expecting Dizzy to make an appearance at PMQs today, or will she just give up the pretence, & let Jeremy take over that job too ?

It'll be interesting to see the gaps on the Government benches too, & how vocal those who do show up are, in her defence.

This is a good example of the big problem - we have normalised what a few years ago would have been seen as completely barking mad. Once the lunatics have taken over the asylum then even a modicum of sanity is seen as good news. Calling Hunt a steady pair of hands, saying Patel wasn't nearly as bad as Braverman, calls for Boris to come back as a saviour, u-turning on a budget within 2 weeks and calling it acting decisively, having a budget without any economic forecast, scrapping tax cuts but keeping bankers bonuses, reducing public spending but reducing tax on banks profits, having kids starving at school and not providing free meals ... No wonder the rest of the world is laughing at us or else shaking their heads in pity. No wonder Biden tweeted trickle down economics doesn't work. We need a major shift in our society and tell the Tories to feck off!

PS Heard a poor woman on R5 in tears about her predicament in NE England and then said she voted Tory because she just doesn't trust Starmer! These folk have been brainwashed.

Listening to Nicky Campbell in R5 this morning talking to local community in NE about the impact of cost of living crisis and my god it is grim, absolutely grim! It was a hard listen to be honest. This follows on from the excellent piece on News at 10 last night. The level of poverty and inequity in the UK at the moment following 12 years if Troy Gov is just unbelievably awful. Local Tory MP came on for 5 mins took a few difficult questions, waffled, was heavily criticised and scarpered - no doubt more urgent gov business! This winter is going to be unbearably awful for many folk, many will suffer, many will die and the Tories must be held to account. If they don't update benefits in line with inflation - 10.1% - then millions more will suffer badly. There will be riots on the streets.

HS2 does get conflate with other things of course. We need a train line, we need to upgrade said train line, and building a new one seems the easier job. Whether you then need to at the spec of HS2 to shave some minutes off Birmingham to London when the links either end will still be rubbish is a fair point, but an awful lot of the spend attributed to HS2 we need. Oh for happier days when cancelling trident was deemed a big ticket item

Still less than HS2.......
Well the HMS Prince Of Wales cost £35B, & it didn't even make it the length of Birmingham to London, before it broke down, & will now have to have millions spent on repairs

Is she just playing up to the Brexiter loons or does she actually have brainworms?
By all accounts, she's astonishingly fucking thick and this is exactly her personality laid bare for everyone to see. Just a monstrous person who happens to be in a position of huge importance because she has zero shame with no actual talent, and is willing to debase herself on a regular basis.

Marjorie Taylor Greene without the guns or the biceps.

Seconds out, Round three !!

The title holder has already been on the canvas twice, & taken 9 counts both times; she's bleeding badly, & blinking uncontrollably in her corner, suggesting serious brain damage; but her coaches keep on pushing her out at the start of the rounds, & refuse to throw in the towel, no matter how much punishment she takes.
