Yeah, I agree with this. Even Toony isn’t daft enough to throw a completely new player into a game v NZSlick wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 12:58 pmAhh, didn’t know that.charltom wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 12:53 pmDepends who "we" is. He used to play FH.
Conceivably GT thought it didn't really matter if we beat Australia and thought that continuing BK's development and showing confidence in him was more important.
The negative, BTW, of Finn coming into the squad is that it may mean that Fin said no.
On the last bit - nah, no way Toony could have called up a rookie from England and left oor Finn out

Probably, I have Premier Sports/Viaplay as an add on to my Viigin subscription, rather than it being a standalone separate one directly to Viaplay.
Huh. Is that as an add-on to Sky Sports or is it in the general package? I cancelled the Sports sub a couple
of years back because I was sick of funding English lower league sides to outbid SPL sides for players.

Just received am email saying premiere is changing to viaplay and it seems to be included in the sky subscription. I've got the whole package and it didn't specify. It might just be regular sky as they appear to have films and scandi dramas
The channels are there on my Sky box, but they say ‘upgrade your subscription to receive this channel’.
Have Googled and it seems that I’ll have to pay £15/month if I want it, or £12 if I commit for a year. Which is a fair amount when I’m already paying for Sky and a number of streaming services. However, I may consider it - as well as the URC, they seem to have Scotland Nations League and Euro qualifier football, and some Scottish domestic matches.

What I meant is I already have Prem Sports and view on my Sky box.
I therefore need to still keep Prem Sports to watch on Sky box .... broadband is not good enough spped.

That’s brilliant and agree. She’s my 4 year old daughters current hero - she’s taken the time to say hello a couple of times when we’ve seen her training in the park, lovely person

Big honour. You're correct, he and Adamson aren't even in the same conversation as refs.

Yeah, I think she's a few URC games, she also refereed a couple of men's internationals, including Portugal v Italy
Think she reffed three URC matches last season. Don't think she's done any this season because of the Women's World Cup, but assume she will.SaintK wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:20 amWell done her. And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Two nights ago I thought "You know what, everyone's been so negative about Scotland's performances so far and NZ looked so good against Wales, that I might have a wee flutter on Scotland for Sunday - there must be some very long odds available."
But no: 3 or 4:1 was all I could find. Clearly the bookies don't factor in the history of the fixture sufficiently!
Now I can see 5 or 6:1. That's almost tempting, in a two horse race. Almost.

Watched an interview with the Racing attack coach (I think), he couldn't speak highly enough of Finn. Really painted the picture of someone who is very diligent and puts in a lot of thought and effort.
Get the feeling with Finn that he likes to be involved, get some input into the plan. Also get the feeling that involving people perhaps isn't Toonie's strength.
True, Finn has been a bit of a typical young Scottish lad and perhaps doesn't/hasn't had the best relationship with alcohol. I can't speak too much on this, neither did I at his age.
I wonder what the big thing is that is getting in the way of these two working together. I'm struggling to see anything that isn't petty.

It is interesting because it is like watching history replay itself. Townsend was the Russell of his day and fell out with the coaching staff, I use that term loosely, and was binned too early. He also liked to play the game with more flair and unstructured at times and sometimes it didn't work. Unless you are in the room with them having the discussion then it is difficult to tell what is going on between the both of them, everything else is conjecture.C T wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:52 am Watched an interview with the Racing attack coach (I think), he couldn't speak highly enough of Finn. That's probably hit the nail on the head. You would have to think that some of the great teams had management that consulted fully with their great players like Dan Carter, Jonny Wilkinson, Sexton etc, it's almost unimaginable that they wouldn't get huge inputC T wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:52 am Watched an interview with the Racing attack coach (I think), he couldn't speak highly enough of Finn. Think you've pretty much nailed it, such a bloody shame. Some of the best rugby recently has been from players JFDI. Set the structure (defence, set piece) then during the match let the players do what they do best, by the time they reach International level they shouldn't need micro-managed.Slick wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:14 amThat's probably hit the nail on the head. Certainly he mentions today that he has texted GT a bit about the attack. Not sure if that's offering ideas or just seeking to understand it!C T wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:52 am Watched an interview with the Racing attack coach (I think), he couldn't speak highly enough of Finn. Interesting, Morris moved in from flanker to hooker. Cammy Scott got his first minutes in an Edinburgh shirt against Cardiff the other week.
Gamble seems to have been "The up and coming prop" for a wee while now.
Very, with Basil having the LS/Quins thing going too, that should help them as well as being available to Championship games
certainly the chat I remember when he signed was that it was a kinda holding spot until kitshoff joined up next season. but chat's not alway right, ofc!

Sutherland will be back in Scotland. I think Venter is out of contract at Edinburgh and then Kebble barely plays for Glasgow anymore.
I think you're right about Sutherland ending up back in Scotland, but a bit puzzled by the Kebble comment? Was in the 23 for 19 games last season and for all but one this season, I think?I like neeps wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:58 pmSutherland will be back in Scotland. He's not a nailed on starter for Glasgow at the moment, which is a bit of a step back. Think he's only started for them once this season?Simian wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 5:11 pmI think you're right about Sutherland ending up back in Scotland, but a bit puzzled by the Kebble comment? Yep. Just seemed a stretch to describe that as 'barely plays for Glasgow', was all I was really getting at.robmatic wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:57 amHe's not a nailed on starter for Glasgow at the moment, which is a bit of a step back. In any case Sutherland is a huge upgrade.
Can't see Sutherland in a Glasgow shirt , if Edinburgh have first dibsI like neeps wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 9:21 amAh I genuinely haven't noticed him when I watch Glasgow - sorry chaps.

I'd love to see Sutherland back at Edinburgh, but we need to keep Venter too, Suzz and Schoeman will be away with Scotland for the World Cup and around the 6N. The others we have listed at loose head are Auterac, Jamie Jack and Harrison Courtney.
Venter is only one in the same class as the two starters, factoring in having two loose heads on SRU rest protocols and the inevitable injuries, we need to keep hold of him, even if Sutherland returns.
Hopefully the thing with Cockerill didn't sour things too much for Sutherland.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 11:36 amDogbert wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 11:21 amCan't see Sutherland in a Glasgow shirt , if Edinburgh have first dibsI like neeps wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 9:21 am

I think we'd struggle to keep Venter as well as Sutherland though. Venter has really come on since he joined us and I reckon he'd get a starting berth at a lot of clubs, or at least do better financially than whatever we would be paying our third choice loosehead.

Aye, I know it's going to be difficult to keep him, but in order to seriously compete for silverware you have to have that sort of depth across the team. We have it in the back row, we now have it in the back three. Charlie Savala's recent form makes me think we might be building it at fly half. In the centres we are getting there - Matt Currie's distribution is really good. Marshall Sykes is a bad bastard, I really like him at lock, he and Hodgson make a good replacement team for Gilcho and Skinner, Phillips and Young are good too.
Rambo's long-term fitness is a concern, I'd love us to get Ashman up to Edinburgh, though Paddy Harrison is looking good.
My bet would be Tuipulotu to start.
Bennett hasn't played at 12 much, has he?
