So many Saffers playing in the English and French clubs. They'll feel right at home.
Wouldn't put your house on it, Pau are firmly lower mid table in T14 and might give the kids a run out.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:05 pmSection Paloise

That's what AJ suggested. As long as the Cheetahs play their usual running rugby, they'll be fine. Expect Pienaar and Steyn to lead them well.lemonhead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:28 pmWouldn't put your house on it, Pau are firmly lower mid table in T14 and might give the kids a run out.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:05 pmSection Paloise

It can only improve England rugby if they play vs SA teams. Ask the URC countries.

They'll come around eventually oom. The Celts were also very sceptical at first, now most of them think the URC has improved with the SA teams there.

I don't know Boet. The English have the upper class Sir , attitude. The French will be happy. More Saffers to poach.average joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 5:52 am They'll come around eventually oom. Our franchises don't have Rassies ref bashing videos. BUT rugbywise most have KL Arendse clones like Senatla, Daniel's, Abrahams, Tarzan , Speckman and power scrums with meathead fatties.

Why on earth would we want south African teams in Europe?OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 5:08 amDidn't know the pain from the Springboks cut that deep. It will get better.
They're not European, the travel is insane, they have no historical reason to be there, their addition is dreadful for player welfare, and their fans are by some distance the worst set of fans in the rugby world.
There is literally no upside.

The guy who's spent years talking up England despite us telling him we're shit thanks to Eddie is now pretending to be an expert on English rugby? Colour me surprised. And to think you're one of the better Saffer posters on here! Even Os seems to lose his mind when it comes to rugby.

Rubbish. Playing the Celts for years at this level hasn't made our test record against them any less inconsistent than our test record against SA.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 5:45 am It can only improve England rugby if they play vs SA teams. Ask the URC countries.
South Africa in a European competition is still absolute bullshit for all the reasons JMK outlined.

I posted a few days ago that I don't follow English rugby.
I do have respect for Eddie Jones.

You say that playing SA club sides will improve England. I don't think that's correct because we already have the example of playing Welsh, Irish and Scottish club sides for many years and England haven't particularly improved when playing against those nations' national team. Ergo, I don't think playing SA clubs will make a difference either.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 5:33 amI am not sure what you try to compare here?sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:34 amRubbish. Why do you think Leinster is so good? The must be doing something right with their structures. The stronger the structures the better the top.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:33 amYou say that playing SA club sides will improve England. In my environment, I take the Stormers. Going down to school level we have a very strong schoolboy structure. In a radius of 30 km you have 3 schools in SA top 5. If you look at the top structure which is Springboks you'll get 5 players coming from that schools. It has always been like that. When these three schools play each other, you get at least 10,000 spectators and massive clashes. They push each other year after year after year to the benefit for SA Rugby.
Your top is as good as your bottom structure. SA Rugby franchises will improve your clubs playing quality. Your players will visit and play in South African conditions like ours are playing in NH conditions.
Why did Ireland send an B squad to South Africa, NZ an u20 team?
Anyways Rugby is driven by money. If SA teams pull full houses then we'll see them play more and more up north.

This is a different tournament and will be a new challenge for the Sharks, Stormers and Bulls. The French and English is a massive step up from URC. Round 1 the Stormers will play against Clermont in totally different conditions. I expect them to lose it.Sards wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 6:55 amStormers were fortunate to get the bottom teams at home.
