I thought at the time that was deliberate, it looked bad the way the player landed on top of Graham.

We have good cover in the back three, I think we'll see a lot of Goosen in the coming weeks. If Boff is good to go then it will be him, Goosen and Duhan starting with Hoyland and Immelman to come in if and when - Immelman has really stepped up this season, imo.

As terrific as Graham has been this season, and he really has, Dean might be more of a concern, we fell apart after he went off on Friday. It all went runny very quickly, Kinghorn went from taking huge strides forwards in his development to dropping dung all over the place, Bennett was quiet, the pack got beaten up despite being very much on top early on, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again, it was terrible.

Completely agree about Dean. I think Lang is a decent player too but that team totally changed after he came off.

Injury Update

Darcy Graham will miss the upcoming festive fixtures through injury with the Scotland international winger expected to be side lined until February.

That's a real shame, he was on fire and obviously enjoying himself. I also think that the injury he sustained was the result of foul play - Scannell the Munster hooker came in late and seemed to target Graham whilst he was in the ruck and not interfering with play. Scannell looked to come in from the side and hit Graham from an angle and whilst Graham wasn't expecting a hit as he wasn't involved in play. I was surprised the incident wasn't looked at during the game. A cheap shot at best from the Munster hooker in my view.

FFS. Darcy in the form of his life and then this happens. He’ll be struggling to be fit for the 6N now.

Undoubtably hard men, maybe we need a distinction of nasty bastard. Ritchie has the makings of that

Yeah, but we don't encourage it enough in the scottish system. Ritchie could be our O'mahony if his nasty bastard side was encouraged a bit.
What should we do to encourage it?

I can't help but feel Ritchie would be our O'Mahoney if he wore green/red and was just very annoying during the same defeat we face everytime with Ireland/Munster? They're bigger, stronger, better than us. I actually don't really we much difference between PoM and Ritchie playing wise except PoM is a tremendous lineout operator.

I think we equate being soft with being not as big or as good as the oppo.
I don’t think it’s quite that simple. They might be bigger and also better technically, but that doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t be a lot better if our players learned to snarl a bit more. Hardly any big hard bastards in our pack, and that means that we get bullied when we play a team who have lots. Right now, if we played Ireland 20 times, we would lose all 20. Much of that is down to them being a better side, but a significant amount is attitudinal. IMHO, anyway.

I see from the Weegies team selection that they have written off the Bath game then? In for a humping with the team selected.

They are resting a good few. To be fair, it's the diddy Cup away from home and the top 6 in the pool go through.

Whilst I know that Smith and McDowall are west coast boys who went to the dark side for education, I find this rather depressing.

4. Lewis Bean (22) - Eng
5. JP du Preez (8) - SA

Wheres Smith from? Wiki just lists Scotland as place of birth but gives out a nice bit of family history. His 3x great grandad played for Scotland and the Lions prior to the FWW and was KIA st Delville Wood whilst serving as an officer in 8 BW.

2. Stuart McInally (170) - George Watsons
3. Luan de Bruin (15) - SA
4. Jamie Hodgson (46) - Stewart Melville
5. Grant Gilchrist (180) - Stirling
6. Jamie Ritchie (89) - Strathallan
7. Luke Crosbie (77) - Livingston
8. Viliame Mata (102) - Fiji

Replacements

Yup, good win. Forwards kept at it although strange that they looked so dominant at the scrum early on then lost it in the middle but. Line out strong.

Thought Huw Jones looked very sharp. Smith did well although a slightly odd selection for man of the match.

Miotti at 10 looked out of his depth and a bit disappointed by Dobie who I really want to make the step up

Wow - 2nd/3rd string Weegies beat Bath first team away! Maybe Smith just took pity on Bath and didn't want to embarrass them in front of their own fans? Either way a great result and will need to watch on catch up - is it available on BT?

PS I wouldn't bet on my lottery numbers either!

Watched it on repeat on Viaplay earlier - cheers! Weegies well worth the win. Bath stonkingly awful but only played as well as the Weegies let them. Some of the Weegie players really stood up and the young guys did really well.

I thought it was a great game. Even tho their set piece struggled, it was there for Edinburgh to win, but they blew some great chances.

Yes definitely. Disappointing result in the end but a decent performance and I hope gives all the guys in Scottish rugby a bit of confidence that they can’t just compete but go to the wire and be annoyed they didn’t win against a very good side

BBC headline says ‘Saracens in bonus point win over Edinburgh’ or similar, so I wasn’t expecting a 4-point loss. Sounds like it was there for the taking too, which is frustrating as hell against a good side away from home.

Bit of Sunday night controversy, but Duhan is beginning to do my head in a bit. Just never, ever, passes or even looks for a pass. I accept that all things being equal that’s usually not too much of a problem but his head seems a bit elsewhere at the moment, defence isn’t great and vulnerable under the high ball.

Not calling for him to be dropped or anything ridiculous like that, but I’d like a bit more out of him
