I had a war movie 'flashback' with the sight of that gun barrel, but quickly remembered the MG3 is derived from the MG42. Too bad we didn't get to hear its soft rattle.
What's going on in Ukraine?

German AT-2 and American RAAM artillery dispersed mines are making a big difference at Vulhedar and Avdiivka. Russian UR-77 mine clearers can't get rid of them.

He always makes me think of the Roger Allam character in V For Vendetta.
Perfect analogy. I always just think of the expression 'the inmates have taken over the asylum' when I see his shows and listen to the ranting of him and his cronies/guests.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:28 pmHe always makes me think of the Roger Allam character in V For Vendetta.

He's lost a huge amount of weight in the last nine months. I think the stress is getting to him.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:28 pmHe always makes me think of the Roger Allam character in V For Vendetta.

Stress of what? What's he able to do that would cause him to fall out a window or murder-suicide his family?Hellraiser wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:54 pmHe's lost a huge amount of weight in the last nine months. The Russians have lost a brigade's worth of their best remaining troops at Vuhledar in the last two weeks. People are fixated on Bakhmut but Vuhledar, Avdiivka, and Kreminna are where the important stuff is happening.

The problem with being Prothero is that there is only so far you can go claiming a shit sandwich is delicious under a dictatorship. And scapegoats are always at a premium.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:58 pmStress of what? Notwithstanding his material losses in the West due to sanctions. Villas on Lake Como don't grow on trees.

.... and because such people are inevitably complete scrotes, they treated people around them like shit on their way up, so there'll always be plenty of people who remember that, & will lust after their position, & will happily give them a bloody good shoeing on the way back down !Hellraiser wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:57 pm The problem with being Prothero is that there is only so far you can go claiming a shit sandwich is delicious under a dictatorship. When I first saw a clip of him I thought ' Christ, Bill Turnbull's angry today' which is pretty sad as he really couldn't be further apart in manner and mindset.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:28 pmHe always makes me think of the Roger Allam character in V For Vendetta.
I don't get why anyone would want to sit and watch him just ranting and wishing death on half the world, unless most of Russia are taking him for a figure of fun. I don't think so, but it makes me feel better to pretend so.

Russian losses are averaging 824 KIA per day since the start of February according to the Ukrainian General Staff. The UK MOD confirmed this was "likely accurate".

What's more surprising is that they didn't tell them that those who don't fight are gays!

Watch out for open windows you ugly cnut
Yep, there's something seriously rotten in the Russian regular army and some nasty infighting going on in the upper echelons of the Russian leadership. I guess the regular army support is still need to maintain the top positions. Wagner has obviously been "too successful" and a campaign against Prigozhin has been ongoing for a while. Wagner was blocked by law to stop recruiting from the prisons at the legislative level, it's now only the Russian regular military that can do that. Somebody is pulling the rug out from under Prigozhin where ever they can. Which is good for Ukraine since more and more is now in the hands of incompetents. Apart from the airborne troops that had saved the Russian army's bacon several times in Kherson (and have their own training and recruiting structure) everything else has been an unmitigated disaster. What is going on in Vuhledar should be a court-martialing for whoever is in charge, but they're still at it.

The 155th Marine Infantry Brigade has essentially been wiped out at Vuhledar.
