I imagine a boot is standard. Hopefully not as bad as feared. Don't really care if he makes the rest of the six nations, think we can cover him, but if it's something that has him out for months and touch and go for world cup

I think I understand the impression he butchered loads because the period around Hansen’s chance sees a couple of poor passes, him being held up and then him dropping over the line.

Had no issue with his play up to then and he was very unlucky rather than outright butchery.
For me he wasn’t great but the fact that he played considering the week he’s had is nothing short of a miracle and let’s just all hope that his father pulls through

Farrell in the post match interview stated he thought it wasn't good. Looked like he got it trapped under another Irish player making a tackle. Was in bad shape immediately.

Hope it won't be a long term thing. He could do with a months rest olid say. Again, Baird to the bench, more international mins!

Watching the replay here - Ross Byrne played out of his skin when he came on.

I remember Leamy was going to be out for months after an ankle injury and played the following week (actually, think he was named but pulled out, wasn't a major injury anyway). These things aren't fully evident until the next or following day. Fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure Sexton would have got to the corner as well.

A lot of wank in there. People are obsessed with someone who can do it all on their own off the bench rather than someone who just does the simple thing that needs to be done.

Old age
Looks slightly less bad on replay.

Hansen might actually have got Penaud if Murray hadn't knocked him off balance.

Beirne's injury was really innocuous. Can't figure out how he did it.

A lot made of McCloskey being off his feet t but he definitely got hands on the ball on his feet and would have come away with ball but for the holding on. The fact he went to his knees before Barnes whistled is immaterial.

Not full turning point but Lowe's banana kick into touch and then Keenan's 50/22 was probably the start of the end for France after they had more of the play and chances in the opening 15 mins.

Ringrose's try was superb. Just keeps getting better as you watch the patience throughout.

Not sure why I thought Hansen was average. Had a pretty good game.

As I posted on the other thread, ridiculous amount of metres run by both sides. Our total was up there with what we might have had in a record win over Italy in the past but France nearly matched it.

Serious contrast between the two games yesterday, particularly setpiece/penalties. 42 setpieces and 28 penalties in Murrayfield. 26 setpieces and 15 penalties in Lansdowne. Obviously penalties feed lineouts but still, that's a mad difference.

Hansen had some good play and looked busy, but he’s still a bit lightweight and he isn’t really getting involved as the 2nd playmaker that he was bringing when he first came in.

He’s doing ok, but he’s not doing anything that JOB, or Baloucoune, or Larmour or maybe even Earls couldn’t do, and arguably those others also bing some extra to their game, which Hansen isn’t really.

That was my impression on first viewing. I'm not quite there after a second viewing. There were bits and pieces he did that others wouldn't have but I'm not going to argue that the others wouldn't bring something different that might be more useful.

Put it this way, you wouldn't drop him based on his performance.

He had 14 passes yesterday- twice the centre pairing combined. Tied Ringrose for best in defenders beaten so yeah you’re somewhat overstating things I’m afraid.

I think this is the key to all our subs/reserves coming in now. Where there’s an injury, the player that has come in pretty much knows how to do the job of the player they’re replacing. Herring, Bealham, Murray, Byrne, McCloskey have all stepped into the role of the 1st choice player with minimal disruption. For each one, the first choice player probably has something extra that the sub doesn’t, but it’s nice-to-have things. Bealham isn’t going to throw 30m skip passes, or hand off an All Black 2nd row into the ground, but he holds the scrum up, makes tackles, and provides that tip-pass link next to the ruck.

Think he just went high on Jelonche to try and make the tackle while also stopping the offload, when in hindsight he should have just focused on bringing the man down.

Also ignoring that he ties defenders up, creating space elsewhere.

Who is he meant to be getting dropped for?

Ah, they've been better in Twickenham in the past, certainly with floodgates not opening until second half.

Every year, especially in Twickenham, italy just completely disappear against England. Even that time they got a bit sneaky at the rucks, they shipped 50 points.

Their backrowers are handy. They just don't have the bigger guys to absorb England's physicality.

Italy this half have at least been better and a bit more like I expected them to be in the first half.

Winning the half at the moment.
