Observations from the first half
Ref is seemingly let more go at ruck time than we had during super rugby - makes sense if that is how tests will be played.
None of the big names really taking charge
We don't have a third hooker who can reliably hit a lineout
Lot of stupid penalties

And yet, like all the South forwards, he's had a stormer. He, Taylor and Saunders in particular have repeatedly gone through the North forwards like a knife through butter. They've obviously identified an area of softness.
He might be putting a good defensive game together, but he's not a big enough target in the lineout , he lacks grunt and worse of all, he's pissing Sam and that clump of rhubarb from the Crusaders off. He should seriously consider stopping that shit.Gumboot wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 8:02 am Good first half. Looked to me like Laulala was offside just before Taylor's non-try. He momentarily detached but never got back behing the ball carrier.
Moody's getting monstered by Ofa in the scrum. How many times has he had his elbow or knee on the ground?
Vaa'i's been far from anonymous - he's doing a ton of work on defence.
Moody has had a stormer? He's been fricking awful. Rightly, he should have had 4 or 5 penalties against. So I guess if your measure of a stormer is getting away with shit that would see him yellow carded in a test, give the man another pie.Certain Navigator wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 8:04 amAnd yet, like all the South forwards, he's had a stormer. I've been wrong many times in my life, and occasionally I've been thankful for that when a worst case scenario I was expecting didn't eventuate.
This however is not either of those situations, and I remain thankful that we are not alike.

Aaron Smith made a huge difference. Or they've decided at half time to play differently

Just the type of crazy score we expect to see in these types of matches.

Lovely. We're being treated to some great skills from both sides tonight.
