FWDs have been superb with their handling in these conditions.

PS the french team is looking at his weight...

He may be carrying a good deal of excess weight, but making a 20m drive through countless defenders after 67 minutes is impressive

Really good effort. NZ had the weather entirely in their adv too with it disappearing after 1/2 time.

Jauneau and Reus barely put a foot wrong at half backs.

I really like Nouchi although I think he is better suited at lock.

How is it that these pitches are so bad, a premium tournament being played on pitches that most small town clubs would be ashamed of

Who the fuck is drilling the Irish tackle technique?

2 red cards in 2 matches for them and this one got completely ignored during the game. Would've thought it's a cast iron citing.

TBF, I think the weather has been the main culprit.

Meantime Wales receive a get out of jail card as Japan picked up a red at start of game.

Paarl Gims pitch is usually intop condition. However we had three weeks of non stop rain. Markotter Stadium in Stellenbosch two weekends ago

Image

and as you can see there is a good crowd in. Much better then a big stadium with no crowd

It's the rainy season in the western cape, like it is every June. It was always going to turn into a mud-fest.

They should have played these games in the highveld. There are plenty of schools and clubs with the facilities.

They also play at Craven Stadium at Stellenbosch and Athlone Stadium in Cape Flats. There are 5 rugby fields at Paarl Gim.

On a normal winters schoolboy rugby saturday morning the u14A, 15A,16A & u18A will play on the A field. We walk line with gum boots on that fields. Its a winter sport. Mud is good for teenagers facial skin.

I don't think any of the French kids played in such a field since their U14 most of them play in top 14 proD2 and would have been at big club by then.

issue here is you have U 20 and that's a lot heavier than U14 (Tuilagi likely ate the team for breakfast).

You probably are right. But then France/England/Italy plays yearly at Paarl Gim with the international series with Tuilagi and what ever man eaters with great success. The 3 weeks rain make it a mud bath as I expected. They had to move some of our provincial schoolboy games on short notice. But fuck me, this is rugby not vokken soccer.

I do prefer watching the U20 on a rather dry pitch the kids run a lot more than the pros and it gets more entertaining.

Baby Boks getting outmuscled by Italy, beaten at their own game. Relentless mauling by the Italians. It's beautiful.

Meanwhile, Georgia are 20-0 up against Argentina. Group C is mental but there's a good chance that the winner of Italy - Georgia will go into the SF.
